Do you WANT to see our divisions healed?

Some people say our divisions are not that big a deal, that we've seen them before. Personally I don't think that's true. One thing that concerns me the most is the amount of people who don't seem to WANT our divisions healed. It seems they'd rather have some kind of final, winner-take-all war, thinking the other side can somehow be eliminated.

Do you want to see our divisions healed? It would certainly require communication with people who disagree with you, and you would have to bend somewhat, regardless of where you stand politically.

We better figure it out. We are falling behind the rest of the first world.

This question is a joke. no patriot will sit by when one of the party's is willing to bring down our democracy and country to force in a piece of shit for a dictator to stay in power . Maga isn't the other side of the isle , or a group with just a different opinion or the noble opposition, They are by far our democracy and country's biggest threat and enemy. And in fact looking at it in any other way is selling out this country , it's constitution and it's democracy.
Trump when he gets backed into a corner by the courts or losing a election will ask his haters to kill for him and they will. If we come out of this as a democracy, that's democrats winning, then we as a nation have to watch what they call MAGA for the rest of their lives because if they get the chance they will be attacking the capital again chanting to kill this person and that person putting as many cops as they can in the hospital, to take over this country to force another hater like trump in as a dictator. The right will except a dictator to stay in power. I won't.

Pull your fucking head out. Half the country disagrees with you. You're not going to simply win an election and change their minds. You're either going to find a way to live with them, or not.

Red Hats don't live in reality. There is no discussing anything with people that don't live in reality.

I would love to see this country come back together, but it really depends on both sides being willing to compromise on issues that neither seems willing to. At this point, the only thing I think would accomplish that is another 9/11 type of event, where we all focus our anger on a common enemy.

the media is pushing the divide.

don't fall for it; it's extremely stupid.

The right wing media is pushing the divide and has been since Reagan allowed the Fairness Doctrine to expire.
Your elections aren't saddled with the two-party shitshow that poisons our politics. A parliamentary system generally avoids the worst aspects of partisanship.

Just as they are forever playing games with gerrymandering and other voting rules, partisans here would constantly be looking for a way to tweak funding rules to favor their "side".

The amounts of money being wasted on American elections is mind boggling. I keep imagining how much better off your red states would be if those dollars were spent on education, infrastructure or health care in red states.

The problem there is any time you offer a red hat a return on their tax dollar, they think it's a communist plot.

You have no idea what the fairness doctrine was or how it worked.

How is the money spent on elections "wasted" do they burn it?

No, they can get away with publicly funded elections because they have a parliamentary system. They've already avoided the worst aspects of the two-party death spiral.
We could publicly fund elections, which would directly lead to viable alternative party candidates.

Instead it's a money game. And people like to bet on someone who can actually win. This solidifies the two party system.

Compromise is improbable when there's no wiggle room in views that side with freedom fighter to terrorist here....... ~S~

Nonsense. We could publicly fund elections, which would directly lead to viable alternative party candidates.
Viable alternative candidates handpicked by the partisan douchebags who control the system. C'mon. How naive can you get?
Instead it's a money game.
This is just a pitch for socialism disguised as a concern for "election integrity". If you want to get the money out of politics, you first have to remove the government's power to intervene in economic matters. As long as they can decide winners and losers, those in the game will find a way to influence them.
And people like to bet on someone who can actually win. This solidifies the two party system.
Which is why we need RCV. It stops that shit out of the gate.

I've said it before, but compromise isn't the answer. Consensus should be the goal. They're different things.
