Many people talk about Palestinians and Israelis as if these were anything other than words describing a specific case (the current conditions in the Middle East) instead of the human condition where two different groups both want the same thing to the exclusion of their opposite.

This is only superficially about ethnicity; it is about the bitterness with which the entirely unnecessary violence is committed and excused/accepted.
