Not all but far too many Democrats embrace the government controlling their lives. The country has been moving to the left for sometime now, the result, bigger government, the successful and hard working paying for the uninspired freeloaders, economic disaster and a time when slinging burgers is considered the peak of a Democrat lifetime ambition.

Well put but it doesn't carry the discussion quite far enough. That "peak" alarming enough but what's worse is Democrat policies are designed to make that "peak" look attractive. Designed to punish anyone who dares rise above them (except in politics where the sky's the limit for income). Sadly there is no way to count the jobs that could have been created and potential makers and doers been able to look at the path they must and find it not a minefield of bureaucratic traps. Elements artfully designed to discourage and quite effective.

I'm convinced that the left really wants a society that mimics a dictatorship. The view I run into is that if I happen to agree with something on Fox News that I am being told what to think as if never disagreed with anyone on the right. On the other hand, I do observe an uncanny way that the left absolutely agrees with Obama on every issue in the universe. I can't think of one thing, not even a minor thing, where they disagree. Do they know that they are alloewed to disagree with Obama?

Great post but let's add this.. .. Look at the inner cities and their continuing failure in employment, education, housing and opportunity. Areas of the country almost exclusively controlled by the Democratic Party and glaring examples of their policies.

I don't think Democrats, or anyone for that matter, -wants- a dictator. I simply believe that many want their values implemented more than they care to worry about potential fallout resulting from the concentration of power necessary to force some of the more controversial values on the rest of us. This isn't native to democrats, though in my experience it is more prevalent in their party, as people who are specifically anti-statist tend to be republican or independent. That said, I've known quite a few republicans who are perfectly fine with a little governmental or executive overreach, as long as the standards implemented by said overreach jive with their standards.

Basically, I think it's less about wanting a dictator and more about valuing the institutionalization of one's own agenda more than one values preventing a future dictatorship through upholding the separation of power.

I thought Bush was an earnest President and tried to do the best he was capable of. In many ways he came up short from my perspective (overspending and to far left) but classy and a true American patriot when compared to the Obama/Clinton types.

It's comical when Democrats talk about the wealthy not paying their fair share when the Clinton/Obama types are such money grubbing and fully corrupted individuals. Dang, and they're so transparent and obvious hypocrites as well.

The left and the Democratic Party are currently in a state of disarray. When I was a Democrat, and a socialist (I still am fundamentally) I used to think that the Democrats were for the average working class person n America. Today, nothing could be further from the case. 50 million Americans are unemployed, and hardly anyone has gotten a job opening in America over the last 15 years other than foreigners, either on work visas, or illegal aliens heavily supported by Democrats. Huge numbers of Americans have been tossed out of jobs (even after working there for 15+ years) to make room for low wage foreigners. The Americans even have to train the immigrants, before they join the unemployed. All supported by Democrats.

Then you have affirmative action. Listen to the left rant on about race, all while pushing the largest amount of racial discrimination, against the largest number of people (Whites), for 51 years now.

Then there's the gay thing. Uncanny how the left bows to the gay lobby, while throwing all the average Americans (Christians in particular) they claim to care about so much, right under the bus.

This list could go into double digits, but I'll end with # 5, being the bizarre friendliness Obama and his flock extend to not just Muslims but jihadist Muslims, like the way the Muslim Brotherhood has been favored over the recent years. This going all the way into the White House with Muslim Brotherhooders holding high level jobs with top classified clearances (ex Huma Abedin, Rashad Hussein, Mohamed Magid, Mohamed Elibiary, Dalia Mogahed, etc.)
