Megachurch Puts Woman ‘Under Discipline’ For Wanting To Divorce A Pedophile

11,000 members isn't a megachurch.

And you are defending it ? Interesting that you didn't comment on the what is going on there, just the size of the church
Because it is nonsense. They cannot put anyone under discipline. They cannot prevent her from leaving. They can have a belief system that disapproves of divorce. That makes them like the Clintons who also believe that wives should stand by their man.
bullshit they can't just ask any ex Mormon!
Does this surprise any thinking person? Given what we have just seen with the duggars the pattern fits.

While the leaders and fat cat pastors sit high on their thrones, the membership wades through the marsh of their moral expectations. The holiest of the holy, these pastors, deacons and board members hold their membership to the strictest of biblical rules.

The Village Church, a megachurch in the Dallas area with 11,000 members, recently denied a woman who wanted to find a new place of worship, the right to leave because she was “under discipline” for violating church rules and biblical law.

Her offense? She sought the annulment of her marriage to a confessed pedophile.

They can't stop her from leaving
wrong
No, they cannot stop her from leaving, period. That is a fact.

She might not want to face the consequences – that is her choice – but they certainly cannot do a damn thing to prevent her from leaving the church.

More whining from a group that declares they don’t care about religion and here they are with their hair on fire because a church did something stupid. Are you a member of the church? Are they enforcing their idiocy on you?

Then why in the hell do you care how idiotic they are?
another dumb fuck talking out his ass.
their and your Idiocy is flat wrong on principle alone.
Yes, because you deem it so.

Talk about idiot - you should avoid calling others one.

God have mercy. This is yet another example of a false church. The land is saturated in false doctrine. We are to abide in Christ and the Words of Christ. Not man. The Church is the body of Christ. Not a denomination, a building, a religious Organization or Institution. She is free to go wherever she feels led to go - and to take her children with her!

it's no more false than any other church it all depends on how they interpret the bible.

Well, well. Seems guano didn't actually read the real story. What else is new. The "mega" church, 11,000 is big, but not "mega", placed the woman under discipline for having the marriage annulled and then leaving the church. Not a divorce, an annulment and it seems they don't allow members to leave while they are under discipline.

Stupid policy, but, as usual, guano lies by omission.

To me, if the man's wrong doings are in his past only, then they shouldn't be held against him. People who change for the better in my opinion should never be judged on their past. I will say one thing though on the other hand. If that woman has kids and the man can't be around them anymore because of his past, then to me, those kids should be who the woman chooses because to me when you become a parent, the kids should be the top priority in the parent's life.

God bless you and the woman always!!!

still big congregation rw drunk cat lady. Why you trying to minimize/rationalize it?

These are the best churches, because you can go there 20 plus years, have your mentor there, listen to his tapes and then claim you never heard anything.

So maybe she forgot the rules and her ex-husband forgot the sermon about kiddie porn.

The Koran recommends stoning a woman to death but the idiot clown face progs still have Media Matters digging up obscure issues regarding obscure Christian sects. No surprises here.

So she doesn't resign and doesn't go there again, I and many others have switched churches and religions and that was the end of it.

One doesn't mean all.
True never the less some do

Do you go to a Mormon church?
Read my 10 am post.

I read it, so you don't go to the church after you left, your life continued on.
Irrelavent.
