What im saying is that he only took the deal because it came with immunity for far more serious crimes. There are valid arguments against the hush money payments being considered in kind donations. And if he had only been facing those charges he likely would have taken his chances in court.

If a court finds that the payments were not in kind donations then no law was broken. Without that underlying crime, the DA has no legal grounds to charge Trump for the additional crimes.

Their entire case in built upon Whether or not the payments were illegal, which has never been adjudicated since they never went to trial with Cohen.
So all Trump"s lawyers have to do is is present a case that convinces the jury that the payments were not in kind donations. If the jury finds that the payments themselves were not illegal, then the DA will lose legal ground for the other charges.

It's not a farce. trump's former attorney served 3 years for deceiving the government and lying for trump. trump should get 30 years for coming up with those schemes. That would be justice.
