Lawsuits by members of Congress and police officers against Donald Trump for his actions on Jan. 6 may advance despite the related criminal case against him in Washington, a federal judge ruled Thursday.

U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta rejected Trump’s effort to pause the lawsuits until the criminal charges over his attempt to subvert the 2020 election — brought by special counsel Jack Smith — are resolved.

Instead, Mehta ordered Trump to begin describing the basis for his claim that he is immune from the lawsuits because his actions on Jan. 6 were part of his official duties as president. Trump had urged Mehta to sideline the lawsuits in part because he argued that disclosing details about his claim of presidential immunity could undermine his criminal defense.

Appeal incoming.

Also it looks like SCOTUS will go against DOJ efforts to impose it's lies and improper sentences against J6'ers and Trump all in one fell swoop.

The supreme court will smack this down... they are using a made up law to imprison 1-6 protesters and to charge president Trump....

Here is what pisses me off. When Trump started the Jan 6 insurrection, Nancy Pelosi impeached him and Mitch McConnell said "while I agree he's responsible, I'm not going to convict him in the Senate because "he's no longer president".

But today

Trump’s lawyers will try to justify their assertions that because Trump’s actions that led to the Jan. 6, 2021, assault on the U.S. Capitol were done while he was president, they are immune from prosecution.

It's a ridiculous argument first of all. But it also points out how slick Republicans are. Technically, he wasn't president on Jan 6th.

This is why he's being charged now. Mitch should have convicted him back then.
