Major Terror Attack On The Uk

All the G8 leaders now standing around Blair while he makes another resoundingly stunning and emotional speech. And Putin just wiped a tear from his eye. No, I'm serious, as they removed the podium on Fox news, I saw him do this, either theatrically or out of spontaneous emotion. I don't care, though, this is really a singular moment in our media, showing the worlds most powerfull nations standing behind Blair as he made this speech against world terror. EVERYONE in the world will see this.

Have any Arab leaders or clerics come out and publicly condemned the bombings as yet? Any reaction to the claim that Al Quaeda did it?

Expresses his heartfelt condolences.

Appreciates Blairs steadfast strength.

Instructed Homeland Security to be vigilant.

Contrasts the intentions of the terrorists with the intentions of the G8 summit.

"The War on Terror goes on"

Impressed with the other G8 leaders resolve against terror.

'An ideology of hope and compassion will overwhelm the ideology of hate.'

It will be interesting to see how this develops over the next few weeks...and just how steadfast the rest of Europe will be in supporting the UK

With anti-G8 freaks becoming more and more agressive, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if they were working with some other extremist factions in London and elsewhere.

I have friends leaving for London tomorrow with their two boys, maybe not now.

I wonder how our new liberal 'friends' would say we should handle this one...

1) Stay out - it's not our business?
2) This is all Bush's fault!
3) If we'd just *talked* to them!

"The Secret Organization of Al Qaeda in Europe" has claimed responsibility.

New terrorist group? Probably not...just more of the same.

Let's get real here. Have they ever? That would truly be a first of great significance. They don't want their self-generated riff-raff to start bombing their own countries.

JERUSALEM - British police told the Israeli Embassy in London minutes before Thursday's explosions that they had received warnings of possible terror attacks in the city, a senior Israeli official said.

Israeli Finance Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had planned to attend an economic conference in a hotel over the subway stop where one of the blasts occurred, and the warning prompted him to stay in his hotel room instead, government officials said.

Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom said he wasn't aware of any Israeli casualties.

Just before the blasts, Scotland Yard called the security officer at the Israeli Embassy to say they had received warnings of possible attacks, the official said. He did not say whether British police made any link to the economic conference.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because of the nature of his position.

The Israeli Embassy was in a state of emergency after the explosions in London, with no one allowed to enter or leave, said the Israeli ambassador to London, Zvi Hefet.

All phone lines to the embassy were down, said Danny Biran, an Israeli Foreign Ministry official.

The ministry set up a situation room to deal with hundreds of phone calls from concerned relatives. Thousands of Israelis are living in London or visiting the city at this time, Biran said.

Amir Gilad, a Netanyahu aide, told Israel Radio that Netanyahu's entourage was receiving updates all morning from British security officials, and "we have also asked to change our plans."

Netanyahu had been scheduled to stay in London until Sunday, but that could change, Gilad said.

The most wobbly of the remaining Iraqi coalition is Italy. Today, an Al Qaeda European website has claimed that Italy and Netherlands are next unless they leave Iraq and Afghanistan. We will see if the Dutch and Italians show more backbone than the Spanish. The Al Qaeda Madrid 311 bombing panicked Spain into changing it government in favor of the deplorable socialists and running from Iraq.

The last minute notification to Isreal is probably one of many last minute warnings issued to several countries embassies. We'll know more about Scotlin Yard's last minute warning intelligence later, but it sounds like a series of 24 which ran a few minutes too late. Dammit, it really sounds like they were close to stopping this attack, but didn't quite make it. Regardless, it will be met with a country full of stoic individuals.

That whole sordid affair in Spain post attack was a product of subterfuge and misinformation provided by the socialist media predominant in Spain. I did an extensive amount of research and debate on another board which I loath to return to, and am too tired to repeat here. But rest assured, the British are no fools. They'll rally. Or else we'll taunt them. And the Brits won't stand to be taunted for being sissy boys by the Americans. :cof:

A lot of this will be decided by who actually set off the bombs. Al Qaeda (or anyone like that) doesn't "warn" people before the blasts.

This is something the IRA does, especially in England and Ireland.

Scotland Yard could have discovered this information through regular "intel" - from there, they warned the embassies in the area.
