    I would say cunning is an apt descriptor for Zarqawi. not crazy. If this article is reflective of current Zarqawi strategy, I sure wouldn't call him smart. He's relying on fear and/or apathy to get him over ... hedging his bets against anyone from the Middle East doing anything to him.

    Egypt and Baharain are openly US allies so the risk is not as great as it would appear. The greater risk would be doing it to Syria or Iran. THEN he alienates those that support him.

    I'd agree to a point, those 'allies' have been quite quiet in saying anything against him, that may change.

    It would be a refreshing change if they did. A major part of the current problem is a lack of Arabs policing their own fanatics.
