“You guys understand how significant this is?” Luntz asked the press breathlessly when he came back into the room behind the glass. “This is real. I’m having trouble processing it. Like, my legs are shaking.”

“I want to put the Republican leadership behind this mirror and let them see.
They need to wake up.
They don’t realize how the grassroots have abandoned them,” Luntz continued.
“Donald Trump is punishment to a Republican elite that wasn’t listening to their grassroots.”

The group of 29 went around the room, each supplying a single adjective for the legislative body that let them down after the 2014 elections. Congress “does nothing.” It’s “too old.” “Useless.” “Lame.” “Inept.” “Wrong party.” “Cocktail party.” “Gridlock.” “Costly.” “Sold out.” “Sucks.” “Douchebags.”

Then, the group did the same for Trump. This time: “Tough.” “Businessman.” “Great.” “Successful.” “Not afraid.” “Leader.” “Has guts.” “Charismatic.” “A true American.” “Kicks ass and takes names.”

Woman democrat supports Trump..
I’ve written before about an acquaintance—late 60s, northern Georgia, lives on Social Security, voted Obama in ’08, not partisan, watches Fox News, hates Wall Street and “the GOP establishment.”
She continues to be so ardent for Mr. Trump that she not only watched his speech in Mobile, Ala., on live TV, she watched while excitedly texting with family members—middle-class, white, independent-minded—who were in the audience cheering. Is that “the Republican base”? I guess maybe it is, because she texted me Wednesday to say she’d just registered Republican. I asked if she’d ever been one before. Reply: “No, never!!!”

Hispanic supports...
My friend Cesar works the deli counter at my neighborhood grocery store. He is Dominican, an immigrant, early 50s, and listens most mornings to a local Hispanic radio station, La Mega, on 97.9 FM. Their morning show is the popular “El Vacilón de la Mañana,” and after the first GOP debate, Cesar told me, they opened the lines to call-ins, asking listeners (mostly Puerto Rican, Dominican, Mexican) for their impressions. More than half called in to say they were for Mr. Trump. Their praise, Cesar told me a few weeks ago, dumbfounded the hosts. I later spoke to one of them, who identified himself as D.J. New Era. He backed Cesar’s story. “We were very surprised,” at the Trump support, he said. Why? “It’s a Latin-based market!”

The people hate the elites, which is not new, and very American.
The elites have no faith in the people, which, actually, is new.
Everything is stasis.
Then Donald Trump comes, like a rock thrown through a showroom window, and the molecules start to move.
America Is So in Play

I'm now convinced that the Clinton's have masterminded the downfall of the GOP.

Trump will never win a popular vote -- there are just not enough bigots and Klansmen left anymore.

Laughable you truly are. You're an idiot as well.

lol. ^ or stadiums big enough to hold them all.........

Recalling the enthusiasm for Obama after his first election, I see the same enthusiasm for Trump. Except Trump has the leadership skills instead of just his race creating the popularity. People believe in him because he is anti-establishment, not a politician, a proven success in leadership, knows how to make deals that favor his interests, is honest and above all, he loves America.

The Republican establishment is still reeling over this, their plans are being washed away. The question now arises, who will back down first? The GOP or Trump? I think the GOP just may embrace Trump after a few more months of Trump gaining in popularity. When he is solidly over 50% in a field of 17, the GOP may have to rethink their mission statement that no one believed they followed anyway.

They just may be heard "Making America Great Again!"

America Is So in Play

I posted a thread based on this article. The so called "experts" are dumbfounded.

My opinion of Luntz has dropped considerably if he was unaware of this segment of the extremist rightwing and their attitudes and opinions.

It isn't as though they have hiding. They are just the crazy Tea Partiers now calling themselves T-Rump supporters. Different name for the same disgruntled group. All they have been missing up until now is a leader to follow. T-Rump is their messiah.

Yes, the GOP establishment has been giving them the finger and now the reckoning day has arrived. They need to decide if they are going to kiss T-Rump's ring or show him the door. My bet is going to be the former. They will try to "ride herd" on him but even that won't be their salvation because T-Rump is not going to be doing them any favors in return.

Right now Luntz needs to get a handle on the size of T-Rump's support and present that data to the GOP elite ASAP. Then we can see where this goes. Hard for my opinion of the GOP leadership to get any lower so I can see them being spineless and just following T-Rump down the road to perdition.

Many are dumbfounded, except his supporters. Which are growing more each day. Just look st the past years poll on "Are you happy with the direction of the country?" And its always a majority of voters who say "No." I believe Trump is tapping into that majority.

As I recall a majority were happy with the direction of the country under Bill Clinton. That all changed under Bush jr and the impact of the republican deregulation kicking in and decimating the net worth of average Americans while enriching the 1%.

Yes, T-Rump is tapping into that anger but he is part of the problem, not the messiah with the solution.

It was only the third time in history that the New York Stock Exchange was shut down for a period of time. In this case, it was closed from September 10 - 17. Besides the tragic human loss of that day, the economic loss cannot even be estimated. Some estimate that there was over $60 billion in insurance losses alone. Airlines didn't fly for 3 days!
Approximately 18,000 small businesses were either displaced or destroyed in Lower Manhattan after the Twin Towers fell. There was a buildup in homeland security on all levels. 9/11 caused a catastrophic financial loss for the U.S.

Well, what happened with your messiah, Obama? He didn't make a difference, for the overwhelming majority of voters think the direction of this country is appalling. I don't see that Trump is part of the problem at all.

People constantly bashing Bush evidently don't care that GWB had 4 major events that had NEVER happened in one 8 year presidential terms
of any president. These events caused tremendous economic losses. Human lives were lost.
Yet none of the Bush critics ever seem to comprehend that.
Another point that most really ignorant people don't understand is that all of this was covered by an extremely hostile press.
With this extremely biased press coverage the majority of Americans opinion of Bush was changed from his 90% approval after 9/11.
Perfect illustration: Clinton signed the 1998 Liberation of Iraq act... the press called it a "liberation"... BUT when idiots like these :
BIG LIE: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid(D) "War is lost",
AGAIN BIG LIE:Senator Kerry (D) "American soldiers going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children."
ANOTHER BIG LIE: Senator Obama said "troops are air-raiding villages and killing civilians,"
All of these BIG LIES were told to further political gain when the truth was that
1) War was not lost.
2) NOT ONE MILITARY Commander or officer or military objective called for "American troops ...kids and children"
3) NOT ONE military operation was EVER ordered to air raid villages with the intent to kill civilians.
But with the MSM taking these lies a blowing completely out of proportion events like Abu Ghraib and then claim it was a "INVASION" not liberation of Iraq.

So thanks for the opportunity to set the record straight as most of the liberal/FFOs are NOT willing to accept the above truths!

Well, what happened with your messiah, Obama? He didn't make a difference, for the overwhelming majority of voters think the direction of this country is appalling. I don't see that Trump is part of the problem at all.

GOP obstruction of Obama was effective.

T-Rump fits the profile of the 1%.

Your laughable if you think only bigots, racists or Klansmen support Trump.

Laughable you truly are. You're an idiot as well.

Hazeldouche has no capacity to think. She's just regurgitating the liberal psycobabble she read off democrookunderground.com

These people aren't laughable any more than a biological weapon is.

They're dangerously stupid.

Weapons Grade Stupid, and they're the tools of oppression.

Fitting the profile and actually believing with the 1% is different. Trump believes there should be a one time tax increase of 14.25% on the 1%.

Are you in favor of 1,400 companies going bankrupt? 400,000 people out of work? You in favor of $100 BILLION a year in Federal/state/local taxes and maybe also causing your property taxes going up because these companies have offices in your community have people that work for them would be out of business?

Are you in favor of your electric bill skyrocketing which is what Obama promised.
Finally are you in favor of releasing $150 billion to a country that has called for the destruction of the United States which Obama wants the USA to sign?
Are you in favor of all those NON-constructive but DESTRUCTIVE events?
