List some good science fiction movies.

The kids watched IT last weekend, it's different...not so good for our youngest, she is terrified of clowns

Star Gate, The Forbin project, This island Earth, Alien, Blade Runner....

Try some of the 30s, 40s, and 50s sci-fi movies.

Even if the plots are lame, you can get a laugh out of the costumes and special effects.

I've been rewatching the entire "Fringe" TV show. Love Me some Anna Torv. Always worth the time.

If you're just looking for a movie...

Forbidden Planet is still a classic that isn't watched much anymore. Their FX for the '50's were way ahead of their time. Leslie Nelson (a young one at that) is the lead along with Walter Pidgeon and a very, very hot Anne Francis.

If you're looking for a good science fiction western, I highly recommend the television series "Firefly", or, if you don't want to watch 16 hours of show, simply watch the movie "Serenity" which is a movie version of Firefly.

Too bad that show got taken off of the air, because that was my "must watch" on Saturdays.

Depends on what you consider to be 'Science Fiction"

Serenity
Avatar
The last two Star Trek movies.
Edge of Tomorrow with Tom Cruise
The Martian (best hard science fiction)

Old stuff -

Invaders From Mars (1953)
The Thing From Another World (1951)
This Island Earth (1955)
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)
The Fly (1958)

Which War of the Worlds? I liked the 1953 Byron Haskin's version over the one starring Tom Cruise.

Gravity was excellent.

Metropolis was just strange, but like a train wreck hard to look away.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers, again which version? I actually like the Donald Sutherland one that was directed by Philip Kaufman. I also enjoyed Don Siegel's 1956 version too.

I haven' seen Snowpiercer. Thanks for the tip.

If you are looking for an unconventional science fiction movie, I recommend "World's End" with Simon Pegg.

It's about a bunch of Brits who are trying to drink their way along this famed bar crawl, and become aware of aliens that are slowly taking over the bodies of the townspeople.

Lots of bar room humor, and some pretty funny sight gags. If you wanna just veg and see a funny science fiction movie, this one is pretty good.
