Koch: I'm Fighting to Restore a Free Society

From 1800 to the 1920s, inequality increased more than a hundredfold. Then came the reversal: from the 1920s to 1980, it shrank back to levels not seen since the mid-19th century.

What utter horseshit. The government didn't even gather statistic on income or wealth before the 16th amendment was passed, so how would anyone know? Just about everything you believe about history is made up.

The "reversal" came at the end of the 1920s when tax rates went up to 90%. The result was a depression that lasted for 15 years.

Yeah, that income inequality is a terrible thing.

BTW, numskull, when a society becomes industrialized, people acquire vast fortunes. You can't have one without the other. You see, the rich people are the ones who own the factories that employ everyone and churn out all those products that millions of people can now afford to buy. Most of a wealthy person's money is tied up in investments - meaning it's tied up in factories and machinery that provides the middle class with jobs.

We already know liberals believe capitalism is a fairy tale. They post this claim every day using their computers invented by capitalists as they sit in their homes built by capitalists with central heating manufactures by capitalists.

Yep. And enjoying the capitalist's food, paycheck, healthcare, entertainment, etc., etc. Hypocrites, every one of them.

I love the numskulls who claim FDR created the middle class. Who do they think Henry Ford sold 20 million Model Ts to in the 1920s?

Indeed...and if they are so against capitalism, and ALL it produces? THEY should CEASE use of ANY device/practices and be true to their hatred of it. But they won't. They're by and large HYPOCRITES.

We are Capitalists my little moron, but unlike you we understand it and don't post the nonsense you've been told to.

Do you know why he paid his workers so well then? He wanted them to be able to afford what they built. That kind of thinking got him sued actually. See Dodge v Ford.

And FDR didn't create the middle class but he got the ball rolling. Capitalism has no middle class, just a few merchants and few rich at the top. Everyone else just scrapes along, which can be better than starving depending upon the conditions.

We aren't against capitalism, it has issues and it's not the right solution to every problem society has.

It is the love of knowledge and curiosity that invents things. Capitalism is the process in which one makes money of other people's work. Capitalism is self-interest and to a point that is good. There is a point at which self-interest for one comes at too great an expense of another. When these two are balanced it is call civilization. Great art was never made for the money, great literature was never made for the money, music, dance, scientific discovery were all made by people who were after something much more valuable than the dollar.

When all one has is a hammer every problem is a nail. Now hold still. ;)

Very well said. This idiot however believes that jumping into a river to save a drowning child that you don't even know is a "purely selfish" act, so don't expect anything like a worthy response, you won't get one.

Koch's whine was one of the more cringe-inducing screeds from the right that I've seen lately. What is it with these right wing billionaires having these public hissy fits lately about being criticized? And that is all that is happening to them, by the way. Liberals are simply criticizing them for their preferred policies and the way in which they try to impose them. That's not oppression. That's no censorship. That's not despotism. It's simply criticizing them. They need to get over themselves.

Koch is a billionaire who inherited his wealth from his dad (not impressive) and has clearly surrounded himself with yes-men who give him whatever he wants and tell him every decision he does is right. So his eye-rolling over-reaction to the lack of deference that liberals have form him is to be expected. He is way out of touch. He needs to stfu.

I guess we can assume anyone on the message board promoting pure capitalism is getting paid to do so.

What utter horse shit. Explain why these things are produced in abundance where people can make a lot of money off them and not found at all where you can't make any money off of them. Is that just a coincidence?

Money facilitates the creation of everything you mentioned, and it provides the motivation. Capitalism is what make it happen.

Of course, a die hard commie like you will never admit it.

You're the one who's out of touch. If it's OK to criticize him, then why isn't it OK for him to criticize back? You're obviously a colossal left-wing hypocrite.

Also, the left has a target painted on the back of every rich person. The criticism now is intended to prime the pump for confiscation later. We know you plan on putting us all in concentration camps once you gain total power.

You already do because you know you wouldn't ever promote any ideal that you didn't personally benefit from. Every Obama dick sucking drone in here is a tick on the ass of society.

We know for a fact that Obama is paying drones like you to disrupt forums like this one.

Well, unless you are George Soros, the Rockefellers, the Kennedys, David Geffen, Richard Branson, Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, so forth and so on. :eusa_whistle:

A swingandamiss. That's your own private definition. The real one is:

Capitalism - Definition and More from the Free Merriam-Webster Dictionary
cap·i·tal·ism
noun \ˈka-pə-tə-ˌliz-əm, ˈkap-tə-, British also kə-ˈpi-tə-\

: a way of organizing an economy so that the things that are used to make and transport products (such as land, oil, factories, ships, etc.) are owned by individual people and companies rather than by the government
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Great art, literature, etc. absolutely were done for profit. Maybe not always, but there were great rewards for great work. Painters didn't hang their work in a shitty tavern for the locals to enjoy.
