Kevin Smith: Thanos, from the Avengers, a hero for murdering all of those people

If Thanos could use those stones to murder all of those people....? Why didn't he use them to fix the problems that would lead to the fake problem of over population?

But leave it to a left winger like Kevin Smith to champion mass murder ......

Fixing the problem how? As I remember the movie, the 'problem' was that an ever-expanding population had limited resources. I don't know if the Infinity Gauntlet of the movie could create new resources the way the comic version could have.

It's funny that you seem to ignore the article when it says that "Smith was most likely just trying to be creative with his choices more than anything," or that "many of the answers were clearly tongue-in-cheek." Instead you jump right to the idea that he wants to "champion mass murder."

Funny how the tongue and cheek mirrors left wing beliefs about current over population myths...

Kevin Smith is one of about 3 film makers who actually knows comics.....and why would Thanos use the stones to fix problems?....if you know about who he is you would not ask that question...

The movie Thanos is different than the comic Thanos. :)
not much different....

Hugely different! In the Infinity Gauntlet books, Thanos killed half the universe to please Death. In the movie, he was trying to help end suffering. The characters were very, very different in their motivations.

And Stalin just wanted to help people too, as did hitler, pol pot and mao......they all murdered millions to help the few...

yea trying to end suffering by killing billions.....seems like a different guy....

It is different. One is based on a selfish reason, while the other is based on a misguided view of helping the universe.

The idea of getting rid of part of the population in order to save humanity isn't new. It's what is on the Georgia Guide stones.

The Georgia Guidestones Mystery -
selfish or misguided if a whole bunch of people are going to be killed in the process, the individuals involved aint much different no matter their motives....both are megalomaniacs....

You are totally ignoring the entire premise. Either the entire population of the universe can die eventually, as those did on Titan where Thanos is from, OR half of the universe can die in order for the rest to survive. This is no different than the idea that certain diseases or global threats help to back down the explosion of population growth, like what happened during the Black Plague (killed 30-50% of Europe's population). The only difference is that the Black Plague was born from nature due to the number of people living in their own filth, rather than through something intentional.

In anthropology there is a term called Carrying Capacity. It basically refers to the number of people (organisms) that can continue to live on the resources of a specific area. With the rate of population growth the world is at now, and with the finite amount of resources, it won't happen in our lifetime, but either there will be another eventual natural correction of population, or something more catastrophic will occur.

Wrong.. ...... how about he uses the power of the gauntlet to find the tech they need to over come the problem.....and the truth, it isn't a problem, it isn't even a problem now, on earth.....as populations become wealthy, they have fewer children....if he used the gauntlet to advance their technology and science he would have solved the problem...

This is another left wing problem that does not exist, and anyone who supports this mythical mass murder really needs help...

Wrong. Eventually population will reach the breaking point no matter what. There are only so many non-renewable resources required for life. Take for example WATER.

The fact you are trying to turn the issue into a political one shows just how ignorant you are, and just like your loved leader, lack the ability to see that ignoring present problems by saying somehow in the future they will get solved isn't going to help.

That has nothing to do with the fact that the motivations of the movie version of Thanos are extremely different from the motivations of the comic version of Thanos.

You are reaching pretty badly to try to tie this to politics.

Trying to end suffering makes him a VERY different guy from the comic book character. In the comics Thanos either doesn't care about the suffering of others, or wants to cause it, for the most part. :)

anyone who would kill billions of people to end suffering because he thinks its for the best is just as insane as one who does it to conquer...both have the same results....billions dead....

Why European women have few babies | VOX, CEPR Policy Portal

Europe is in the midst of a major demographic crisis, with many countries facing ultra-low fertility rates. This column uses survey data from 19 European countries to show how low fertility can be traced to disagreement within couples about having babies. In low-fertility countries, it is usually the women who bear most of the burden of childbearing, and who veto having more babies. Fertility can be raised by policies that specifically lower cost to women of childcare, whereas general subsidies for childbearing are much less effective.
-----

As Figure 1 shows, this has led to a large decline in total fertility rates (roughly, the average number of children per woman) throughout Europe. To maintain a constant population, a country’s total fertility rate should be around 2.1. Today, most European countries fall short of this level, and many by a large margin. In countries such as Austria, Germany and Spain total fertility rates have remained below 1.5 for more than two decades (Kumo 2010). Such ultra-low fertility rates imply rapid population ageing, increasing strains on social insurance systems, and ultimately large population losses. The population of Germany, for instance, is projected to decrease from about 80 million today to 68 million in 2060.1

Japan....

Japan isn’t ready for the ‘new reality’ of its baby crisis

People in Japan aren't having enough sex, so they're not having enough kids, and so the country is set up for a demographic time bomb.

According to demographer Keisuke Nakashima, associate professor at Kobe City University of Foreign Studies and senior associate at the Global Aging Institute, it's going to require some pretty massive social changes.

"I believe the Japanese society as a whole has not adopted to the new reality," he tells Tech Insider in an email.

In a real way, Japan is shrinking. In 2015, the country had 1,008,000 births and 1,302,000 deaths. Extinction of the Japanese people could become a serious discussion point: one team of economists set up a "countdown clock" to track the seconds until the last baby is born (currently in the year 3776).

It doesn't even take but common sense to understand when people continue to live longer, continue to multiply, and live in a place that is not going to get any larger, and matter isn't going to suddenly appear, the planet will eventually meet and surpass population capacity.

Moron, this used to be one of your gods...the one who claimed we faced a population bomb...that should have happened 30 years ago.......

Paul R. Ehrlich - Wikipedia

The original edition of The Population Bomb began with this statement: "The battle to feed all of humanity is over. In the 1970s hundreds of millions of people will starve to death in spite of any crash programs embarked upon now.

At this late date nothing can prevent a substantial increase in the world death rate ..."[18] Ehrlich argued that the human population was too great, and that while the extent of disaster could be mitigated, humanity could not prevent severe famines, the spread of disease, social unrest, and other negative consequences of overpopulation.

By the end of the 1970s, this prediction proved to be incorrect.

Junk science? Only an idiot would call it junk science when I haven't even shown you a source... It doesn't even take but common sense to understand when people continue to live longer, continue to multiply, and live in a place that is not going to get any larger, and matter isn't going to suddenly appear, the planet will eventually meet and surpass population capacity.

You just listed how many countries out of the entire planet? :abgg2q.jpg:

And the real world shows that you don't know what you are talking about....you are not taking into account human behavior...you are an idiot....I just gave you two sources showing slowing birth rates....dangerously slow birth rates in two modern western nations......... you call on science and then ignore scientific invention that will likely reduce any other problems we face...... morons like you, called Paul Erlich.....told us that "science" dictated that by 1984 the world would be running out of food and overpopulated to the point we would be facing massive world wide catastrophe.....

We are still waiting for the 1984 population bomb.... you moron.

Wow... just wow. Like I already said, you labeled my sources "junk science" before I even posted any. That should tell anyone at all how dumb you are. Not to mention the number of times your ridiculous "stats" on gun violence has been debunked. I wouldn't trust you to know the proper milk to cereal ratio let alone anything related to REAL science.

No, not true, right now Europeans aren't even having enough children to replace their populations, dittos Japan.... you have no idea what you are talking about and simply hate people...it always comes down to killing other human beings for you lefties....

I have no idea what I'm talking about? How many sources do you want to prove you're wrong?

Sources saying we are facing overpopulation are junk science...as I just demonstrated with my links...

The left wing thinks that half the population should be killed off? :lmao:

You are reaching pretty badly to try to tie this to politics.

Stalin, hitler, mao, pol pot.......shall I continue?

You should probably continue by actually given an example of leftists that think half the world should be killed. While each of your examples may have been horrible totalitarian leaders, responsible for millions of deaths, I'm unaware of any of them advocating killing half of the world's population, not even counting killing half the population as a form of controlling over-population.

Then there is the fact that none of your examples was part of the US political left wing, which is the implication you seem to want to make.

I continue to contend that you are reaching badly in trying to equate a comment about a fictional character, which had qualifications and may have only been made to spark conversation, by a single person, with either a US political leaning which encompasses millions or with various infamous tyrants, not all of whom even had the same political philosophies. ;)
