It's down to us.

Done. Haven't been following it, huh?
I have. They haven't presented evidence of the timeline of the relationship that's compelling in a court of law. No matter what you've been propagandized to believe.

The Supreme Court decision to take up Donald Trump’s claim that the president is immune from criminal prosecution is not in and of itself surprising, shocking, or dismaying. But a few things have happened along the way that made the reaction to its order late yesterday more emotionally weighted than it might otherwise have been. And they all have to do with timing.

First, way back on Dec. 22, 2023, the Supreme Court declined to bypass the appeals court and take the case directly, as Special Counsel Jack Smith had asked.

Second, after the appeals court ruled and the parties submitted their filings on whether the Supreme Court should now take it up, the high court sat on the case for an two additional weeks before deciding to take it.

The combination of those two decisions – not taking the case in December and not quickly taking the case more recently – let precious weeks slip by that make it increasingly difficult to squeeze in the trial of Donald Trump for using the powers of his office to cheat to win in 2020 before he faces voters again in 2024. Difficult but not impossible.

The goal of the conservatives being aligned with Trump's.........DELAY.

Correct.

Undermined and compromised by decades of Republican corruption, the people alone must defend democracy from the malignancy that is Trump and his supporters.
Even the majority isn't at times enough to stem the tide of Trumpery as evidenced by Hillary winning the popular vote. Add that to the anachronistic composition of the Senate with its disproportionate representation of rural, conservative populations and you have a recipe for the current situation. The power wielded by the minority.

Again, you miss the point. Urbanites have different concerns from non-urbanites and as a result often don’t consider these distinctions. Urban propaganda reinforces this. Since a majority of numbers live in urban areas it stands to reason that they outnumber those non-urbanites with different concerns.
All the urbanites have to do is vet their info. But they don’t because they’re obviously slow-witted sheep.
All of you country bumpkins are brainwashed by your pastors and capitalist masters. You don't realize that because you're stupid.

LOL They could produce a video tape that them banging away on New Years Eve with the ball dropping on 2019 in the town square - and you'd be chanting NO EVIDENCE NOT COMPELLING ALLEGATIONS

The thing is, they don't have a video like that. Or any credible evidence for the court to make a factual determination on. Leaving the judge no choice but to leave the matter of when the relationship started as unproven.

Here's the thing. Nothing about Willis's or Wade's conduct has a bearing on the facts of the case.

Here's another thing. You aren't addressing the subject of the thread..........for obvious reasons.

Why Is Trump Getting Special Treatment from the Supreme Court?

All this makes the Supreme Court’s decision to hear Trump’s appeal for absolute immunity from all criminal charges even more unusual, and troubling.

Start with the weakness of Trump’s argument. There is absolutely no constitutional text, no precedent and no authority in the original debates over the Constitution’s ratification to support the idea for a former president’s absolute immunity. The argument advanced by Trump’s counsel is patently absurd. The idea that senators could impeach a president who threatened them with deadly violence and so no criminal justice process is needed, is facetious. The District of Columbia Court of Appeals rightly ridiculed it — and issued a comprehensive, tightly reasoned and unanimous opinion that presented no good cause for further review.

Trump is within his right to appeal the decision, but there’s no good reason for the Supreme Court to take it up and review it as a matter of law — especially given how thorough the D.C. Circuit was.

In fact, the court’s erstwhile concern with “unjustified delay” in criminal cases would seem to cut hard against hearing the case. It is, after all, a matter of common knowledge that the former president’s legal strategy is to run out the clock and thus prevent a trial prior to the election. Here then is a case where justice delayed may well be justice derailed.

Exactly.

Well, reasonable minds disagree. The defense has more than proven their romantic relationship prior to the contract she gave him

Absolutely does. Did she bring this case because of it's merits or because she wanted to funnel $700,000 of taxpayer money to her fuck buddy (and then go on multiple vacations with him using that money.)

Another poster was singing Fani's praises, to which I responded. And then you jumped in.

The SCOTUS got the way it is because we allowed Republicans to take over the Senate and because we allowed Trump to become President.

Let’s not make that mistake again. If you turned your note up at Hillary and vote trump or didn’t vote at all… you let this happen

Let’s not make that mistake again.

And if you value abortion rights or LGBTQ rights or even contraceptive rights… you need to NOT vote Republican for state legislatures or the US Congress

Her “fuck buddy” wasn’t a fuck buddy when hired and made MORE money in private practice than he made by taking that job

I’m an outlier. In this case, someone who considers facts and analysis instead of group think.
You're just a self-deluded, egotistical moron, who thinks he's "special", hence craps on everyone else that doesn't agree with his world view.

I'm not worried about polls this far out. Once Nikki Haley voters come to terms with the fact that Trump will be the GOP nominee then we'll get a better sense of where we're at but, no, I'm not at all worried about Trump.
most of Haley's primary state votes were cast by democrats trying to make Trump look bad, it didn't work. Those dem voters were never going to vote for anyone but senile joe in the november election.
