Maximizing the potential of one's citizens isn't just "touchy/feely" shit from the left, but is a pragmatic approach for a nation to maximize it's tax revenue and a strong pool of qualified soldiers.

There is no middle ground. The closest would be finding well off individuals who were willing to provide Private charitable opportunities IF THE SITUATION COULD MATERIALLY BENEFIT THEM.

One thing I forgot to tell everyone, there are other reasons that you can be bumped from a flight besides overbooking. I should know, I did it for 10 years.

The amount of fuel the pilot orders for the flight is dependent on his passenger manifest. In the event that the fuel guy has his head up his ass and overfuels the plane, 9 places out of 10 will not allow defueling due to risk of fire and fuel contamination in the fueling vehicle so the airline has to ask for people to be bumped to keep the aircraft under max gross weight.

If its not TOO bad, the pilot will just do an extended runup before takeoff. Ask me how I know.....OOOPS.

Disagreed. You seem to believe there should be no public schools. I believe it is in the best interests of the nation to have a minimum level of education because 1) it provides a good baseline for taxpaying citizens and, if necessary, soldiers and 2) it's cheaper than paying $30K/year to put them in prison. Same goes for college, but only for those who are deserving. Not everyone is smart enough to work for DARPA or NASA. Not everyone is smart enough to become doctors or nurses. Some people are only capable of being ditch diggers or flipping burgers. Others are capable of becoming mechanics, plumbers, etc without going to college.
