It’s Interesting How Obama Says Things That Are So Quickly Proven False

The premise for the argument that GWB lied about WMDs in Iraq is based on a difference of ooinion.

I don't think Bush himself lied. But those around him sure did. Did you happen to catch the interview with "Curveball" on 60 Minutes last Sunday?

I agree. Look at all these liars and 7 of them lied even before Bush became President.
I'd rather look at the liars in the Bush administration before Cheney ordered the intel cooked.

"We do not have any direct evidence that Iraq has used the period since Desert Fox to reconstitute its WMD programs"
-George Tenet, 2/07/2001

"We believe the sanctions have been effective, and Saddam Hussein's regime has no weapons of mass destruction."
-Condoleeza Rice, February 16th, 2001

"Containment has been achieved, and we now believe Iraq has no weapons of mass destruction or the capability of producing them."
- Colin Powell, February 23rd, 2001

"He has not developed any significant capability with respect to weapons of mass destruction. He is unable to project conventional power against his neighbors"
-Colin Powell, 2/24/2001

"The Iraqi regime militarily remains fairly weak. It doesn't have the capacity it had 10 or 12 years ago. It has been contained. "
-Colin Powell, 5/15/01

"He [Saddam] does not control the northern part of his country. We are able to keep arms from him. His military forces have not been rebuilt. "
-Condoleeza Rice, 7/29/01

It really doesn't matter. I'm sure she'll keep on with it. Liberals don't care about the truth.
Obviously you and T. can't handle the truth.
The truth....?

That, up until it becamse clear that GWB was actually going to do something about it, -no one- had any doubt about Iraq having WMD/programs?

That's the truth that the ant-Bush crowd continually tries to get people to forget.

Iran had WMD, Libya had WMD, Pakistan had WMD (even nuclear warheads), Russia had WMD, China had WMD. Your point? Saddam Hussein was no more a threat to the United States than any of them. Once it was established that he had no significant WMD capability and once he was captured and hung, mission WAS accomplished. We should have declared victory and gone home. But since civil war had erupted, we could hardly do that because that would have been a glaring acknowledgement that we fucked up by not planning for the outcome.

"McConnell wished the health-care law a not-so-happy birthday a week early — the Senate is on recess next week — in a floor speech Thursday.

The rhetoric is pretty strong, but he also made a number of factual assertions about what Americans have learned about the bill since its passage. Let’s take a tour through some of his comments and explain where they come from."

No one except the Bush administration and the CIA, of course.

Congress failed to do its homework, obviously. They relied 100% on a National Intelligence Estimate which was edited (by whom? Doug Faeth?) to make their case. In fact, most of them didn't even bother reading the entire NIE, but relied on a one-page White Paper summary before they voted.

You get this....and, many others, in.....

"Goldwag wants to understand the origins of the hostility in his new book. Here is perhaps his best explanation: “The New Hate is at once the expression of a quixotic desire to turn back the clock to a mythical golden age when women and minorities and gays and foreigners were less troublesome than they are today; when the government only gave and never took; and a cynical ploy to up the turnout of Republican voters. Most of the time it’s reflexive and vindictive to its core.

Goldwag underscores how the past serves as prologue. Again and again in The New Hate, he demonstrates how the theories, and the rhetoric spreading those theories, were devised decades and sometimes centuries earlier by previous generations of conspiracy-minded, history-twisting, racist, misogynistic, homophobic evangelicals."
