Actually, it has a great deal of meaning. However, it seems racists are annoyed when it is used appropriately and when they are called on the inappropriate use of it. Most of the time, when a racist says PC police or liberals are the ones who are being racist, or when they say it is the blacks who are being 'racist,' the accurate term to be using is 'reverse racism.'

An absolutely perfect example of my point, thanks.

.
I'm not surprised. Any idea you don't like is, in your opinion, PC or racist or 'liberal,' etc. You are so open to considering anything you have a bias about.

I made a point, and you proved it, immediately.

Happens quite often here.

.

She proved your point according to you anyway. Pat yourself on the back why don't you. Is the NAACP racist. Why are right wingers always trying to prove that it's the left who are the racists? Anyone reading these forums soon finds out quite the opposite. Not that I'm saying you're racist.

Perhaps you can respond to my original point.

What definition of "racist" are we using?

The Left sets the bar ridiculously low (it appears to be essentially whatever you way it is), so I'm just curious.

.

I'll answer that question. Only blacks and their sympathizers are permitted to define racism.

.

We'd have to have a baseline, specific definition of the word "racist".

The PC Police have so diluted the word that it really has no meaning at this point.

Sadly.

.
Here is a definition I found with a quick search.

rac·ist
ˈrāsəst/
noun
  1. 1.
a person who believes that a particular race is superior to another.
synonyms: racial bigot, racialist, xenophobe, chauvinist, supremacist More

adjective
  1. 1.
having or showing the belief that a particular race is superior to another.
"we are investigating complaints about racist abuse at the club"

Using these definitions I concede that the NAACP is not racist as they do not beleive that one race is superior to another. That being said, I do beleive that the NAACP is a race hustling organization.

Agreed!

On another thread, I was called a racist because I said that the NAACP is a racist organization. I just thought I would do a little poll to see what other people think. I'm putting this in CDZ with the hopes of keeping the discussion civil.
Doesnt mean you are racist because you are ignorant of what the NAACP actually does. However, that would be my first thought upon hearing someone say something that off base.

Well, what would think if there was a NAFWP?

national association for white people?

the Naacp has become nothing more but an political arm of the Democrat party. They should get no monies from taxpayers to run it. They've become ugly in my eyes and just out to stir up race hustling
There is no history of white people being discriminated against in the judicial system. That doesnt even make any sense.

'Racial Bias, Even When We Have Good Intentions'

"The central challenge of such research is isolating the effect of race from other factors. For example, we know African-Americans earn less income, on average, than whites. Maybe that is evidence that employers discriminate against them. But maybe not. We also know African-Americans tend to be stuck in neighborhoods with worse schools, and perhaps that — and not race directly — explains the wage gap. If so, perhaps policy should focus on place rather than race, as some argue.

But we can isolate the effect of race to some degree. A study I conducted in 2003 with Marianne Bertrand, an economist at the University of Chicago, illustrates how. We mailed thousands of résumés to employers with job openings and measured which ones were selected for callbacks for interviews. But before sending them, we randomly used stereotypically African-American names (such as “Jamal”) on some and stereotypically white names (like “Brendan”) on others.

The same résumé was roughly 50 percent more likely to result in callback for an interview if it had a “white” name. Because the résumés were statistically identical, any differences in outcomes could be attributed only to the factor we manipulated: the names." http://www.nytimes.com/2015/01/04/upshot/the-measuring-sticks-of-racial-bias-.html

How Racists and Partisans Exploit the Age of Obama - The Atlantic

"So, to say Obama is progress is saying that he's the first black person that is qualified to be president. That's not black progress. That's white progress. There's been black people qualified to be president for hundreds of years. If you saw Tina Turner and Ike having a lovely breakfast over there, would you say their relationship's improved? Some people would. But a smart person would go, "Oh, he stopped punching her in the face." It's not up to her. Ike and Tina Turner’s relationship has nothing to do with Tina Turner. Nothing. It just doesn't. The question is, you know, my kids are smart, educated, beautiful, polite children. There have been smart, educated, beautiful, polite black children for hundreds of years. The advantage that my children have is that my children are encountering the nicest white people that America has ever produced. Let's hope America keeps producing nicer white people." Chris Rock

I don't consider the NAACP to be racist any more than I consider the anti-defamation league to be racist. There may be racists in the organization, but the organization, itself, is more concerned with the civil rights of a minority.

I wouldn't say he same thing for organizations like Nation of Islam or the New Black Panthers. Those are both hate groups.

The name of the organization tells us all we need to know. They raise money to lobby politicians to pass laws that benefit only one race of people. Here's the test: Would this be considered a racist organization? NAAWP
You do know it was started and ran by Jews?

Really?
Do you even know the name of the founder of the NAACP?
Thats correct. The NAACP was founded by whites and Jewish people. I thought everyone knew that?

NAACP 100 Years of History NAACP

"The NAACP was formed partly in response to the continuing horrific practice of lynching and the 1908 race riot in Springfield, the capital of Illinois and resting place of President Abraham Lincoln. Appalled at the violence that was committed against blacks, a group of white liberals that included Mary White Ovington and Oswald Garrison Villard, both the descendants of abolitionists, William English Walling and Dr. Henry Moscowitz issued a call for a meeting to discuss racial justice. Some 60 people, seven of whom were African American (including W. E. B. Du Bois, Ida B. Wells-Barnett and Mary Church Terrell), signed the call, which was released on the centennial of Lincoln's birth."

Du Bois is the one who started it along with 7 others who were also black.
The rest were members and supporters.

He was one of the founders. The majority of them being white. Did you not see my link from the NAACP site? The first president of the organization was a white guy by the name of Moorfield Storey, I think you are confused. Du Bois founded the Niagara Movement and those members later disbanded and joined the NAACP.

NAACP = National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

Is it racist to call somebody "colored"?
Maybe not racist but offensive. Why would you want to go out of your way to offend someone? The organization was started a long time ago when the term colored was accepted. Nowadays it isn't, but, rather, offensive. Again, why do you, why would anyone want to make an issue of and/or go out of their way to offend someone?

True

and how is that any different than all of these sports teams over the years who have been forced to change their names which were NOT considered offensive terms when the team was first named , and they have been around a LOT longer than the NAACP.

In 1909 Du Bois was among the founders of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and from 1910 to 1934 served it as director of publicity and research, a member of the board of directors, and editor of the Crisis, its monthly magazine.

I already posted that. You said he started it which is not true. He was asked to participate by some white people who already had come up with the idea.

Du Bois is the one who started it along with 7 others who were also black.

Albert Einstein was a member of the NAACP.

Political views of Albert Einstein - Wikipedia the free encyclopedia

"Einstein was a member of several civil rights groups, including the Princeton chapter of the NAACP. When the aged W. E. B. Du Bois was accused of being a Communist spy, Einstein volunteered as a character witness, and the case was dismissed shortly afterward. Einstein's friendship with activist Paul Robeson, with whom he served as co-chair of the American Crusade to End Lynching, lasted twenty years."

perhaps there should be a NAAWP in response to the black on white crime rate

but not "people" there is the proof

Around here, the local NAACP representative is very active with one of the largest black churches in town. They push equal rights for women, and lean towards pro-abortion. This does not endear them to other black churches and organizations. They are expected to help the black population, not whites, and I'm not sure of the other ethnic races like Latino, or Oriental. Perhaps their actions towards Latinos and Orientals would determine if they are racist. It's a given they are protecting blacks from whites. That is the whole point to the existence of the NAACP. I don't think it is racist.
