AP spokesman Paul Colford said the organization, with more than 4,000 employees, and 49 Pulitzer Prizes earned for asking the hard questions, has the luxury of putting multiple reporters on major stories. He confirmed 11 people worked on the story, but not all full-time. He refused to say, however, if similar number of journalists were assigned to review other political books, or if Palin has been treated differently.

"One byline appeared on AP's Fact Check. Others at AP with knowledge of specific areas covered in the book contributed in varying degrees to preparing the Fact Check quickly on Friday," his statement read.

Reviewing books and holding public figures accountable is at the core of good journalism, but the treatment Palin's book received appears to be something new for the AP. The organization did not review for accuracy recent books by the late Sen. Ted Kennedy, then-Sen. Joe Biden, either book by Barack Obama released before he was president or autobiographies by Bill or Hillary Clinton. The AP did more traditional news stories on those books.

AP’s Seth Borenstein’s Climategate Bias
By: Bradley Fikes — December 13th, 2009

I wrote Saturday about the pro-AGW bias of Seth Borenstein, science writer global warming propagandist for the Associated Press. Today, Watts Up With That? digs deeper into the poor journalism of Borenstein, and that of his editors at AP, who let him cover a story he’s part of.

It gives the appearance that he is not interested in reporting the other side of the story, especially when he is the instigator of the email thread by saying:

Marc Morano is hyping wildly. It’s in a legit journal. Whatchya think?

So, how then would the AP trust Seth Borenstein to do an “exhaustive inquiry” when he is part of the issue?

Perhaps further FOIA documents will tell us just how cozy Mr. Borenstein is with the people he reports on.

However, WUWT? seems to have made an error in this passage:

Now consider what other members of the media write about him. From the Tacoma News-Tribune

Associated Press reporter Seth Borenstein has a terrible reputation as a runaway alarmist. Even global warming enthusiasts and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change are embarrassed by his over-the-top prognostications of doom and selective use of data to support his fading dream that mankind can actually control climate.

When other reporters can see the bias, AP, you have a problem.

If ya can't see the left leaning bias, you're in denial or are even farther left than they are.

The AP is Obama's personal news media outlet along with all of the other major tv news stations. Who isn't intelligent enough to see this? Obama could take a big dump right in the middle of Pennsylvania Avenue and all the news people except for Fox News would have something good to say about it. They would talk about how wonderful his style was and about how nice it smelled. Fox News, on the other hand, would call it like it was - just another load of crap from Washington.

their day to day stories definitely have a left lean, but their "IMPACT" stories have hit on both sides pretty hard

The Associated Press is biased towards those who know how to read.

That is why so many believe it has a liberal bias. You don't have to read to watch FoxNews

heh...I've read a lot of lefty meltdowns stating that the AP is biased to the right and a lot of righty meltdowns stating that the AP is biased to the left.

They must be doing something right.

what about the ticker on the bottom or the boxes that appear next to the talk show hosts as they emphasize a point?

They hired 11 fact checkers for Going Rogue and 5 for Climategate. I doubt if even one checked BHO's books. Yes they are biased.

Reality has no bearing on the Liberals inability to use logic or comprehend facts.

By the way they had NO ONE fact check any of Obama's books, did not fact check Biden's book or either of the Clinton books.

The trend that we're getting better and more neutral press coverage of the American political scene from the British and Aussie press, since at least the Bush 41 administration, pretty much says it all about AP and their downstream transcription teams in the MSM.

No they didn't.

gee, one plus ten comes up to eleven for me.

go figure.
If you consider there were 10 others who contributed to the story in varying degrees because they had knowledge of one or more areas covered by the text the same as hiring 11 fact checkers then more power to your bias.
