What Jesus is supposed to have said is all hearsay, written generations after the facts.

And the Bible was written by many different people over hundreds of years........all inspired by God.

Without faith, the Bible doesn't make a lick of sense. Yet read in faith, it makes perfect sense.

But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. 25Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 26For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 29That no flesh should glory in his presence. 30But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
Ok, "inspired by god". Not the word of god. So you're quoting the bible, is that section true? Or is it like Noah's boat story, false? How do you tell which is true and which isn't? And then how do you know that your made up interpretation of the stuff you deem untrue is the right one?

That's what faith is and when you are in His faith, the answers are there for you to discern right from wrong, true from untrue. But without His faith you will never figure it out...........and it's impossible for one of faith to ever fully explain to those without faith, the answers you seek.
So since faith is the belief in things unprovable, I have to suspend reality to get your god's love? That doesn't make any sense. Why wouldn't your god come and meet me in reality?

Faith and Love are two very different things. We Christians have Faith in what is unseen, because it's in our hearts. But God's love is unconditional to all who seek Him. There is nothing you can do to get or lose His love, it's a gift to all.........but few are willing to accept it.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins,
in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.
All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath.
But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy,
made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.
And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,
in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—
not by works, so that no one can boast.
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

If you ask because you are searching for the Truth, you will find it. But if you ask to justify your doubt, you never will
"There is nothing you can do to get or lose His love, it's a gift to all.........but few are willing to accept it."

If there's nothing I can do to lose his love, then my accepting it or not won't change a thing. Please try again.

how do you figure that princess, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani” your 4th century book has a different interpretation than the one rendered during the closing act of the 1st by the participant.

is it possible yours is meant as better copy for a desired encore and to bolster their sequels for the future ... just maybe.

You cannot earn your way In (no matter how good you are) you cannot buy your way in. You cannot sneak in. There's only one way through Jesus Christ.

curious response, do you ever think for yourself ... the above is an obvious 4th century forgery.

the naturally spoken religion of the 1st century, from where yours is derived.

I quoted the most common & well known verse that says 'For God so loved the world that HE gave HIS one and only Son'. YOU quoted it as something I've never heard as 'that THEY gave THEIR one and only Son' So I asked where you quoted it from.

You are talking in cirlces
So we're not all god's children? Since when? :dunno:

Just as Jesus spoke to the crowds in parables......'those who have ears, let them hear'

You wouldn't like that very much.

But if you ask to justify your doubt, you never will
That's really the starting point, isn't it? Getting hung up on exactly how Noah got this animal or that animal into the ark is a diversion from the real issue, which is the condition of the heart. In fact, many an atheist prefers to argue about such things to avoid thinking about the most important things.

No, it simply turns out that nobody, at least here, but NO ONE believes that the stories of the bible are true. In which case the bible is simply another book of philosophy, which would be a more appropriate designation.

Because you would realize how messed up you are compared to Him.

Is that what he told you or did you make that up yourself?
