As much as people criticize the U.S., think about what would happen without us.

Let's say the U.S. leaves NATO and Russia invades the Ukraine and declares war on all of Europe, announcing plans of total conquest. The U.S. says they will stay out of it as long as Russia doesn't nuke anybody. Could Russia be stopped without the US or would the Ukraine and all of Europe fall under Russian domination? Russia's enormous population and practically unlimited manpower would overwhelm them.

Considering the magnitude of how much the population of Russia absolutely dwarfs that of NATO, minus the US, even when you add in the population of the Ukraine, it is scary to think what would happen.

Come back to earth. The EU has 3.5 times more inhabitants than Russia thus can stand an army at least three times as large as Russia, has state of the art military hardware and WMDs. Do you think Russians are stupid? Russia's enormous population? It is 145 million. (EU population 512 million)
The purpose of this thread is nothing but fear mongering and whipping up anti Russian sentiments to promote war.

Where did you get your demographic information? You are lying! GTFO, imbecile.

Absolutely...nukes trump all. GBR & France have the bomb.

Bolded: your tone suggests that NATO benefits Europe more than America. nothing could be further from the truth. NATO nations are part of a invisible American empire. these are states that would have otherwise fallen under the influence of America's rivals and enemies, if not tied to America. without Europe America would be isolated economically, militarily and politically.

A certain degree of isolationism is not necessarily bad thing. Keeping the jobs home, spending all the foreign aid money for infrastructure yet still maintaining a state of the art very powerful military to prevent countries to mess with us.

Defense spending of NATO countries in 2015 was 900 billion dollars. 650 million of that was from the US. The NATO countries are letting the US spend money on defense and not spending their own money.

Which NATO members are falling short on military spending?

"According to NATO statistics, the U.S. spent an estimated $650 billion on defense last year. That's more than double the amount all the other 27 NATO countries spent between them, even though their combined GDP tops that of the U.S."

Does Europe want to be controlled by the U.S.'s enemies instead? The United States is sick of being bullied and intimidated by Canada and the European countries. The U.S. needs a big military to protect themselves not only from Russia, except also their NATO allies. We have Canada constantly flexing their muscles on the border, England holding the threat of re-claiming us as a colony, among other things.

If the U.S. leaves NATO it doesn't mean the U.S. leaves the freaking world. It means that the U.S. saves a ton of money by not contributing to crooked arms dealers and rogue nations. According to Wiki, NATO membership consists of 29 allegedly stable nations in North America and Europe but in addition it seems that 21 other nations are involved with NATO in something called a "partnership for peace" which even the most naive American should recognize as an extortion scam. On top of that there are 15 other countries involved in NATO under something called "institutional dialog" which is an even stronger word for extortion. It should be noted that president Clinton used NATO to bomb a defenseless country when he was caught with his pants down. Clinton's bombing of Yugoslavia/Bosnia accomplished nothing but deflecting the media from the sex scandal in the White House and might have cost the lives of 5,000 innocent civilians as well as turning former Serb allies against U.S. interests. When NATO has the power to authorize the bombing of innocent countries in some sort of political payback and the U.S. is mired in archaic treaties going back to the Korean war it's time to take another look at the structure.
