Hundreds of thousands protest US troop presence in Iraq.

These are just the pro Iranian Iraqis who are protesting, but if this were really a representative sample of all the Iraqi people, they would have to be called the stupidest people on Earth since the last time the US withdrew, they lost half their country to ISIS.
How can someone who's been a member of this (or any) politics and news forum for over 10 years be as misinformed as you are about Iraq ?

Or even so misinformed about ISIL and ISIS and that ISIL and ISIS were brought into EXISTENCE BECAUSE of the total destabilising of Iraq by GWB and his lapdog Tony Blair.

ISIL and later ISIS began originally as Jama'at al-Tawhid wal-Jihad in the late 1990s and was affiliated with Al-Qaeda and when GWB and his lapdog Tony Blair decided to invade Iraq and moronically convinced themselves that carpet bombing Iraq was all that should happen and then you know "Mission Accomplished" because Saddam had been lynched and so no need to establish any type of Peace Mechanism because a Puppet Regime taking orders from Washington DC would be A LOT better.

So that all resulted in The Guerrilla Campaign beginning, the counter-insurgency and into the vacuum came Jama'at al-Tawhid wal-Jihad which merged with various other Islamic Fundamentalist groups under a renamed new grouping ISI and over subsequent years from this we have got ISIL and ISIS and that's how ISIS was born ALL thanks to GWB and his lapdog Tony Blair.

You are wrong. There was no ISIS until Obama withdrew US troops from Iraq on the eve of the 2012 election season. By 2007, Petraeus had implemented his plan to arm and support Sunni militia to fight al Qaeda and other Islamist groups and they were overwhelmingly successful, It wasn't until Obama withdrew US troops at the end of 2011 and ended support for the Sunni militia that the various Islamist groups came back to power and morphed into ISIS. Had Obama kept the residual force and aid the Pentagon had asked for, there never would have been an ISIS.

Iraq: Hundreds of thousands in Baghdad protest US troop presence - CNN

BAGHDAD — Thousands rallied in Baghdad on Friday to demand that American troops leave the country, though their numbers fell short of the “million-man” march called for by an influential Shiite cleric. The rally came amid heightened anti-U.S. sentiment after a U.S. drone strike earlier this month killed a top Iranian general in the Iraqi capital.

ISIS was not in Iraq though before GWB and his lapdog Tony Blair invaded Iraq, actually in the history of Iraq they had never even had one suicide bombing before GWB and Tony Blair invaded Iraq, fucked Iraq over and left a vacuum post-Saddam Hussein ISIS began to fill and also ditto the same situation in Libya years later when Obama with his lapdogs David Cameron and the ugly dwarf Nicolas Sarkozy decided to fuck over Libya and left a vacuum post-Muammar Gadaffi, yes Saddam and Gadaffi both both crazy but the West for MANY years SUPPORTED BOTH and at least they kept the Islamic Fundamentalists under lock and key, the invasion of Iraq and the fucking up of Libya REMOVED that key and RELEASED the Islamic Fundamentalists who then joined forces with others and ISIS was born.

The US Occupation of Iraq should have ended a long time ago, actually it NEVER should have began because there was NO legitimate reason to invade Iraq, the WMD horsecrap was shown to be horsecrap YEARS ago and Iraq had ZERO to do with September 11, 2001 also.

Saddam had announced he was going to STOP selling Iraq's oil using the PetroDollar system and that's why Iraq was invaded ditto the same with Libya as Gaddafi had also announced he was going to STOP selling Libya's oil using the PetroDollar system....so they BOTH had to be invaded and Regime Changed.

The bottom line is that when Bush left office, there was no ISIS and al Qaeda had been reduced to nothing more than a nuisance, but when Obama withdrew US troops to enhance his reelection prospects, al Qaeda regained its strength and morphed into ISIS which then promptly conquered half of Iraq, and ISIS was only defeated when US forces returned to Iraq.

The ultimate bottom line is that Iraq should never have been invaded to begin with. Saddam was contained, there were Sanctions, there was no actual reason to invade Iraq.

You need to understand that the organisation is IS (Islamic State) and there is ISIL (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) and ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) and ISIL was already in operation when GWB was still in office, Al-Qaeda did not "morph" into ISIS when Obama took office and withdrew troops, ISIS was ALREADY established within ISIL when GWB was still in office, ISIL then when the Syrian madness blew up they sent their crowd into Syria as well as being already in Iraq and it was ONLY when they went also into Syria that that branch named itself ISIS.

IS, ISIL and ISIS are not defeated just like The Taliban was not defeated, all are still in operation they are just keeping their powder dry and waiting. The situation is that this is a regional conflict it should be just between all that crowd in the Middle East, they ALL in varying degrees are completely crazy, they have been screaming at each other and killing each other for Centuries, the West should NOT be involved in a situation that is UNWINNABLE from ANY side, the best thing to do is GTFO and let them continue doing to each other what they have done for Centuries. Continuing Western interference is only going to result in things becoming increasingly dangerous for the populations in Western nations.

Your facts are wrong, by 2007 there was barely any Islamist presence in Iraq because of measures implemented by Petraeus. Obama cancelled those measures and that is what allowed the Islamists to rebound and to form ISIS. For five years, 2007 - 2011, there were virtually no Islamist forces active in Iraq and there was no ISIS,but in less than two years after the US left Iraq at the end of 2011, ISIS captured half of Iraq and would have captured the rest if the US had not returned in 2014 to stop them.

Technically, there was still a sanctions regime in place in 2003, but it was run by the UN and the UN was not up to the task, one of the main reasons Bush43 was so unhappy with his father's exit from Iraq. The UNSC put Syria in charge of the sanctions enforcement at the same time Syria was running an illegal pipeline from Iraq allowing Saddam to avoid the sanctions, and people working in Kofi Annan's office was illegally getting contracts from Saddam to sell Iraqi oil. "Containment" such as it was, required a large US military presence in Saudi Arabia and this was extremely unpopular among Saudis and could not have gone on forever.

In my opinion, invading Iraq was a reasonable option in 2003. The war was just as quick and easy as the Pentagon had predicted with very few casualties, but the nation building was much, much, much more difficult than anticipated, and since no one had done this before, there was a learning process. Still, in less than four years the US turned Saddam's hellhole of a country into a functioning democracy with all three major population groups, Sunni, Shia and Kurds at peace for the first time since the seventh century. It was a great accomplishment, but was it worth the price? If Obama had not screwed things up and handed Iraq to the Ayatollahs, I think it would have been, but now we'll never know.

It was a certainty that once Saddam Hussein was ousted, the Shiites would take over and become an Iranian ally, which the Bush administration ignored. I don't know how they could have expected anything else, once they opened up Iraq to actual elections. The Shiites will always side with the Shiites and the Sunnis will always side with the Sunnis, as they have always been enemies. Each considers the other as not true Muslims and hate each other.
The west needs to just get out of all Muslim nations, toss Muslims out of the west and make sure that there is adequate defensive and offensive capabilities should they attack western areas.

Really pathetic. You couldn't just say what you meant? You write like a libtard.

All the Wars are basically Iran versus Saudi Arabia............it is a Sunni versus Shia War...........and they have been fighting and killing each other for a VERY LONG TIME.

ISIS is Sunni.............and they were Bathist Sunni under Saddam............They declared the Caliphate after we left and planned the whole thing while in Bucca Prison...........

This hatred between the 2 versions of Islam there..........can't be nor Never will be CONTAINED...........Currently the Shia have the upper hand there, and are using it to spread Iran's influence in the region.

Lucy is correct. Tony Blair has accepted responsibility for he and Gomer creating ISIS.

The entire Iraqi parliament was chanting "Death to America!" 2 weeks ago.
This has nothing to do with Iran.

I saw that but thought it was Democrats in the House.

Trump should jump at the chance to pull our ground troops out of there. Regime change was a bad idea, sold by misguides officials for many reasons (mostly bad ones), not understanding the U.S. costs or the chaos it would unleash in the region. It has not and will not be worth remaining there.
The regime change was awesome! It was the rebuilding and policing that shouldnt have been done.

Was the regime change worth 23,000 casualties?

Absolutely. Saddam was killing a hell of a lot more people than that. God only knows what kind of horrors he would have unleashed over the next few decades, let alone his lunatic sons after him.

The American prison that became the birthplace of Isis

When the United States pulled out.............Our military advised NOT TO RELEASE the prisoners there............Iraq did it anyway..............and the leaders of ISIS came from there.........

No, Bush Jr. caused Isis, which are by the way , sunnis.
The leaders came when they were released from Camp Bucca..........they were released after the withdrawal under Obama.

The policy of Bush helped create them........and so did the Ancient Sunni versus Shia........and everyone against the Kurds Regional CULT.
