How many of you have Family and Friends who...

try to teach them basic manners re: losing graciously and admitting they were wrong..

or give them ice cream :p

"Losing" does not mean that you are "wrong". It means the other team convinced others that they would "benefit" more if they voted for them.

Those that voted for Romney, voted for "freedom" and Constitutional values (the Bill of Rights).

Those that voted for Obama, voted for the gov't to "give" them something (without having any idea how much it will cost them, their neighbors, the children and grandchildred of this country). You voted for the fiscal cliff, let's see if you are so willing to drive over it, Thelma!

Actually it does, at least in this election.

For example, the GOP was wrong to alienate Hispanic voters with republican advocacy of hostile measures against immigrants, the vast majority of whom Latino, and seeking to violate the due process rights of immigrants.

The GOP was wrong to alienate female voters by invoking the notion of ‘legitimate rape,’ enacting ‘personhood’ legislation, and seeking to undermine privacy rights in the context of pregnancy resulting from rape being ‘god’s will.’

The GOP was wrong in its effort to deny same-sex couples their equal protection rights concerning access to marriage law, correctly portraying most republicans and conservatives as enemies of civil liberties and the Bill of Rights.

And the GOP was wrong in its effort to demonize low income Americans, accusing them of being ignorant, selfish, lazy, and voting for ‘free stuff.’ Romney and the republicans were wrong to insult and ignore the 47 percent of Americans who work hard, go to school, and take care of their families the best they can on modest incomes.

So yes, in this case losing indeed means republicans were wrong.

On the contrary... I've never watched so much Fox News in all my life. It started when it became clear that president Obama was going to be re-elected. I immedietly switched from CNN to Fox News with great anticipation and glee. I just had to see the faces of Fox News as they declared Obama the WINNER! Stuck like glue to Fox News ever since and to this day I tune in Fox News to see them weep.

I also tuned in the Rush Limbaugh show the next day, had to, God it was such a euphorphic feeling hearing Rush on the day after the election. Believe me I never listen to Rush but I have been lately just to hear him flop around. Thank you Jesus!

I look forward to 4 more years of "muting" o every time he is shown speaking on TV. I cannot and will not, listen to someone I know is lying, if the message appears to be in the best interest of America.

Translation:

“As a conservative I refuse to listen to anything that might conflict with rightist dogma, including facts and the truth.”

can't turn on the news anymore? You know, people who had their hopes and dreams set on Romney. I have close friends and family who were sure he was going to win...and now they are "current events challenged."

Not sure how to handle this and how long this will last. Anyone have any ideas on what can be done?

LOL, "time heals most wounds." or something to that effect. I have family and friends wh are staunch conservatives and they are still watching the news.

Can we all agree that the "47%" comment was probably the greatest blunder of Presidential election history? It changed the very face of the race and Romney never recovered...in the days of Information Technology, no one shoudl think they be secretive about anything they say.

That was a very crass and revealing thing for Romney to say. It played right into Obama's hands as he portrayed Willard as an out of touch Billionaire.

I guess it depends on how much they "hated" Obama. Some will need weeks and maybe months before they can though a news cast about the President. I expect, many that I know will begin smack talking and bashing Obama during the Chirstmas holidays. It will be rather funny to sit there and nod and grin...while all the time laughing histerically on the inside.

I never watch the news because it is biased and inaccurate.

If you want to know anything you have to read your news from several sources then fill in the missing reason for yourself.

Fox will re educate them.

Fox knows it has done this to them and now their party cant win elections.

Fox will just shift their views by getting new anchors.

It will take some time but look for Fox to get some new people in the new year

I can't agree although perhaps you are correct. I do not have the pulse of every voter.

After reading Obama's book I am stunned anyone would want him as President.

7 STAGES OF GRIEFthe grief model called "The 7 Stages of Grief":

7 Stages of Grief...

1. SHOCK & DENIAL-

2. PAIN & GUILT-

3. ANGER & BARGAINING-

4. "DEPRESSION", REFLECTION, LONELINESS-

5. THE UPWARD TURN-

6. RECONSTRUCTION & WORKING THROUGH-

7. ACCEPTANCE & HOPE-

Most of my family are real right wing religious folks. Most of them are somewhere between stage 1 and stage 4. They couldn't believe Romney lost, or perhaps they couldn't believe that Obama got re-elected. My cousin clearly lost it, going on about how America is dead now. Now he's emailing everyone about Obama's executive orders, as if he is the only president that ever issued them. I see that same thing going on here on this message board. Whole bunches of right wingers losing their minds because their great white hope failed to win. I expect them to come back to reality in a few weeks. Mormons will probably go back to being considered cultists. We will probably see a return tho the status quo that existed prior to the election, with the right wingers convinced they are correct about everything and that all problems are due to the commiecrats. I doubt most will look closely at why they failed and will just double down on their belief system.

Evasive posting. Got it. ;)

It is really hard when your mother curses at Obama every time he comes on TV. And when I try to explain that the people on FOX are fabricating the news on O, she cries. It is not worth it, so I just shut up...:eusa_eh:

Fox has commentators with opinion on some shows as do the other networks.

What news, actual news, did they fabricate?

Tell Mom not to cry. It's just politics. :D

message I got from a very dear friend of many years...who has gone over to the dark side...
Obama does NOT deserve a second term. He didn't deserve the first. Maybe it is preordained. all Empires eventually fall, and it is now our turn. America is no longer the Land of the Free and Home of the Brave. There is no more pride in me for our country or our people. We have may hardships to face soon, more terrorist attacks, and more loss of freedoms, the people have spoken and decided our once great nation will be no more. I morn its loss, and grieve for my children and grand children who will never know the pride of country we once had, we have failed them all. It is a very sad day in history.

Maybe it was just meant to be, our time of greatness is over. I do not spend much time here on fb any longer. Nothing personal to any of you, I just don't have the strength to deal any longer, nor do I want to. I was going to just delete my account but I need to stay in touch with my grandson who is in Japan in the air force. Just need to hear him and see him as often as I can. I am not making a partisan statement Dante, I fear for us ALL.

Good advice. Some people are so invested in their belief system that listening to reason or any opposing viewpoint is just inconceivable. Assure her that the world will continue to go on, the universe is unfolding as it should, God has a plan, etc.

The glass is always half empty if it's for Obama, and half full if it is for the conservative cause. The Good Ship Wingnut sails on unabated by the winds of reality...

When did politics become such a serious business for us regular people? Seriously. I have many things in life that will get me excited and none of them happen here at USMB or in the world of politics.
