Patriots' Hernandez arrested amid investigation of man's death - CNN.com

Surprised how quick this came. They must know something really bad. I can remember the Ravens standing by Ray Lewis in a similar situation.

----------------------------------------------------------

On the lighter side from the comments section on NFL.com:

8:47 AM: Boston area police arrest Aaron Hernandez in connection with a homicide investigation.

11:00 AM: The New England Patriots release TE Aaron Hernandez.

11:01 AM: The Oakland Raiders offer TE Aaron Hernandez a lifetime contract.

11:02 AM: Hernandez declines Oakland's contract; citing he wouldn't want to ruin his playing career.

Burn!!! I can remember when the Raiders were highly respected.

Now he has been charged with first degree murder. Hmmm, I'm wondering if this is going to be another case of overcharging. In order to get a first degree conviction, there needs to be a lot of evidence, not only physical but also as to the state of the defendant at the time or that it was premeditated. Maybe the jury will be given an option of convicting for a lesser offense if they believe he killed this guy but it wasn't first degree murder. This will be interesting to follow. Of course, prosecutors still have time to change the charge.

Well we will find out how bad this is. They are saying they have tape of Hernandez and others with guns near the time of the murder.

It will be an interesting case.

Who is Brady going to throw to? Maybe Tebow as a tight end is not a bad idea after all.

I like Tebow as a fullback, although not many teams use fullbacks anymore.

Now they got Hernandez on a double-homicide in Boston last year....add that to another pal he shot in the face and you got a trigger-happy lunatic on your hands.

Have they charged on the double homicide or are they still investigating him on that crime?

They're tying a noose for his neck on that one too. Seems he and his homies were in a fight outside a strip club and opened fire on the two. The one he murdered a couple weeks ago knew about it. When Hernandez saw him "talking to the wrong people" in a bar, the guy had to go. So he called up a couple hitters from his past, gathered the guy up at 3am and took him for a ride out to the industrial site. On the way the victim texted his sister and told her he was "with NFL" and "you saw who I'm with right?" or words to that effect. They executed him...now a pic of the Glock .45 that was used is found online someplace with him holding it. Oh and on the guy they executed, the cops found rental car keys from the car they were in the night of the double-murders from last summer...it was rented in Hernandez' name. Ammo found at this home and a rented condo match the shell casings used in the execution. Several videos seized showing his ride near the dump site. A video from his own system shows him walking through his house with the Glock in his hand then the DVR is turned off during the hours of the pickup and murder. Who takes off from their home at 3am and turns the surveillance system off? About the only thing this moron did right was to toss the Glock.....who knows where...if it shows up he better plea bargain for a safer prison than the one he's apt to spend the rest of his days in. They're checking his tats for gang affiliation.....he's going up the river. He threw away a beautiful home, a 7 month old child, beautiful companion, and $40M he had coming from the Patriots who cut him when his arrest was announced.

you might want send any proof of that to Goodells' office

They knew he had a troubled past and they knew it was a risk. It was very uncharacteristic of the Pats to take this guy on.

not really. a lot of clubs have given troubled players a second chance. some made the most of it some didn't.

The Pats have had a reputation of staying away for these types of players and they had several analyst question them in 2010 when they drafted him because it was out of character for the Pats to draft questionable personalities.
