The problem the GOP has right now is that it's too busy defending outright criminal behavior and then trying to feed us with the "I am not a Crook" defense. Some of the Reps that will be caught up in the mess will be good Legislators. But that can't be helped right now. The GOP has a very negative image problem right now. Most have not earned it but enough have that it slants things.

Case in point using Colorado's own Corey Gardner. Before 2016, Corey Gardner was NOT a Rump follower. He had town hall meetings. He generally didn't fear his constituents. He was relected in 2016 on that premise. He won by a very close margin.

After 2016 it was noted that his voting record did not jibe with his anti Rump campaign speeches. And he did a town hall meeting that turned into a complete slugfest. He stopped having them entirely. His new home became Washing DC instead of Colorado. Plus, the local polls showed that he was behind against 2 or 3 challengers for the Senate. All of a sudden, he's a fervent Rump Supporter. He hopes Rump will ride to his rescue. What the voters already knew was that he always was a Rump Supporter. Gardner is no long a Republican, he's a Rumptster. And in this state, that's a kiss of death. We don't mind good Republicans but Rumpsters will be replaced quickly. If you believe that the Hick is needed to bounce Gardner you would be wrong. There are at least 2 others that are Democrats that are Moderates that score much better for 2020.

For the Colorado House, Scott Tipton has been let off a little easier. He's been a fervent Rump supporter all along. He pulls the R lever no matter what. Unlike Gardner that has the whole state to worry about for reelection, Tipton is over primarily the Red dominant section. He also won't do town hall meetings either. The contender he faced in 2016 was a left winger and, of course, he wont by a close margin. The Dems haven't learned yet that if they present a moderate Dem then they can take him out by a close margin. But they haven't learned a damned thing in the Tipton Rumpster controlled area. Who knows, but if I were Tipton, I would wonder if I would be going back to supervising selling Kupee Dolls at roadside stands once again. But Tipton made his millions the old fashioned way, he inherited it.

The ONLY reason the Rumpst......er.......GOP is being elected or relected right now is that the Dems are being stupid. In any other country in the world, the Rumpsters would have to go home and learned to cheat at a local level. Case in point, our old Representative who has been reduced to a County Commissioner after being bagged for Plagiarism when he ran for Governor. You know, the one that signed a pledge that he would support and abide by the newly passed and federal court bounced Federal Congressional term limits? Who, after he got there, he reversed his stance and refused to abide by his agreement with the voters. The good news is, he can't be recycled anymore. He's filled just about every office he can and term limits have finally caught up with him. But we are pretty sure that there are some things that are still done under the table while he is in office. But it ends in 2020 for him as well. This area shows that it recycles crooked Republicans. And then one wonders why it's so difficult to get a reasonably honest person to replace Tipton.
