Qurans Found Torn, Burned Outside Local Islamic Centers on Last Days of Ramadan

SOUTH SACRAMENTO -- Two local Islamic centers discovered destroyed remnants of Qurans outside of their mosques as their communities participated in the last days of Ramadan.

According to the Council on American-Islamic Relations of the Sacramento Valley, police are now investigating the incidents that occurred outside of the Islamic Center of Davis and the Masjid Annur Islamic Center.

While the Islamic Center of Davis was leading its Friday night prayers, someone drove by and threw pages torn from a Quran at the religious organization.

Just last week, on June 16, Lauren Kirk-Coehlo was sentenced to five years of probation for targeting the same mosque, destroying the building and other property and leaving bacon on door handles.

Less than 24 hours later, a citizen led Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies to temporary fencing set up between the Masjid Annur Islamic Center and the sheriff's department. A burned Quran filled with bacon was left hanging by handcuffs on the fence.

Yes, you can burn a flag, Bible or Koran on you on property, but if you do it on other people's property with the intent of causing fear, terror or intimidation, then it can be considered an act of hate.

Example; a group of LW assholes burns a Confederate flag on someone else's property and covers it with shit. Freedom of Speech or act of terrorism/hate? The latter. They do the same thing on their own property and put it on Youtube. It's the former, freedom of speech.

It's is certainly an act of hate.

But it's not a hate crime under the law

Cite the law, please.
If it is not a crime, then there is not necessarily a law to cite.

That being said, if the burning of the Koran can be established as being a threat, then that would be against the law, like burning a cross in front of a black man's house.

Correct. It is a protected right of free speech

It could be considered littering also.

Exactly, which is what the article stated, the Koran's in question were either burned on or prior to leaving it on private property, the mosque's, as you cited in the case of a "black man's house".

Teen Who Desecrated Jesus Statue Gets Probation, Community Service and Is Banned From Using Social Media
A Pennsylvania teen who posted a photo of himself in a lewd position with a statue of Jesus Christ will have to perform community service and be deprived of social media access as part of his punishment.

A 14-year-old from Bedford County received his punishment from Judge Thomas Ling last week, which includes 350 hours of community service, probation, a six-month ban on social media, and a 10 p.m. curfew, WJAC-TV reports.

but you dont have to?
I'm going with the article about the local city making the charges. What do you want me to prove? That the charges were being investigated or that Lauren Kirk-Coehlo was sentenced to five years of probation? Here let me help you catch up:

Wow, they make it sound like a book is the worst thing that could be set on fire.

God bless you always!!!

Nope. Your free to burn all the Bibles, Korans and do a pagan dance around a bonfire as long as it's on your own property (and local fire laws allow it). On the other hand, I nor you can do the same on someone else's property. It's called trespassing, arson and destruction of private property, among other things, depending upon the exact nature of events. In addition, if our intent was to provoke fear or intimidation, then it could be a federal, state or local legal violation. The case of the teenager desecrating a statue of Jesus is one example.

Example of federal law: Hate Crime Laws | CRT | Department of Justice
Since 1968, when Congress passed, and President Lyndon Johnson signed into law, the first federal hate crimes statute, the Department of Justice has been enforcing federal hate crimes laws. The 1968 statute made it a crime to use, or threaten to use, force to willfully interfere with any person because of race, color, religion, or national origin and because the person is participating in a federally protected activity, such as public education, employment, jury service, travel, or the enjoyment of public accommodations, or helping another person to do so.

Muslims are too easily offended. A beheading must be coming soon.

If one burns a Bible on a Christian's private property, yes, that is a hate crime, if the intent is to demean or cause fear.

Or a cross on a black family's yard.

Or a Koran on the property of a mosque.

Or an orange wig on the lawn of the White House.
