Does President Obama get credit for saving GM?

Dante, how about you tell us what you think on the matter and be EXTREAMLY specific as to why you feel that... rather than beat up everyone for telling you their opinion, providing links and having almost everyone in the thread but you agree with them.

simple. reply to the first post and I would respond. It's how conversation usually works, when people stay on topic with Honesty, Integrity, and Transparency.

Seeing as GM is in fact not "saved" your question was not honest, it literally assumes GM will make it. GM can't even be measured as saved until they pay back the loan that you seem to claim "saved" them. You're thread starts off by lacking honesty, so in the spirit of polite debate many of us have given you a more accurate answer than it seemed you hoped for, that much is now transparent in your thread.

If I say "No" then that implies I agree GM is saved, when that would be false.

I don't think GM is a success, at least not yet.

And if it is a success, Obama didn't get there on his own. I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because Obama was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because Obama worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something — there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there.

If Obama were successful, somebody along the line gave Obama some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in his life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed Obama to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If GM is a success— he didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.

So no, he doesn't get credit.

Not really as smart an answer as you may think. President Obama never said people do not get credit for things. He said they share credit, But, please, can you stay on topic?

Can you give a link directly to where Obama says we share credit, because I can provide a link to where Obama says near 100% what Papa said, almost to the word in fact.

That is the topic, Where did Obama say "they share credit?" I am using the same logic many are using today. So, I don't give Obama credit, that was the question, but I don't think GM is a success, so I guess I don't blame him for his failure either, I just come to expect it.

USMB is not serious about a Clean Zone.

what a waste of time

allowing questions to go unanswered and allowing weird accusations and unfounded rants to stay while deleting other stuff is just stupid

I designed it that way, I didn't want it taken out of context.

Dante is playing word games and not allowing into the discussion that GM is still not a success. He wants to debate who gets credit for the success, then gets ticked off that no one even agree with his false premise.

Then immediately discounts any opinion to the contrary.

Honesty Integrity Transparency

Dante has tried HIT jobs on USMB and more often than not, come up with failure

Argument. Debates. Discussions.

What is it you seek when you enter into a conversation? How do you get to control how others will respond? How do you deal with posts that bury a thought, an idea, a salient point?

Talking about what equals a debate is fine, but a debate is not what I think most reasonable and rational people seek. I think they seek a conversation. An honest and open conversation minus deceit, deception, and deflection.

H: Honesty would have required you didn’t ask a loaded question where a yes or a no means you agree GM was saved when it in fact is not.

I: Integrity would have required you to go with the debate rather than control it, attacking everyone that provided links and opinion that differ from what you want the answer to be.

T: Transparency is now visible as your bias is not allowing you to stop trying hard to steer the conversation to an answer you are looking for. It has become clear, or transparent that your motives are to troll your own thread by not accepting a single answer as even “credible” while not even being able to answer your own question when asked of you.

Sadly many threads will simply be the run of the mill trolling threads without people swearing at each other.

I absolutely agree. I'm still waiting for him to answer where GM is a success and if Dante even thinks Obama deserves credit. Dante is to busy telling everyone their opinion does not count to give an answer of his own. I guess Dante found it's incredibly easy to debate when you acting more like a moderator and going out of his way to keep his opinion out of the conversation. Kind of hard to debate someone or even enter a polite conversation when they don't even say anything other than "you're worng," over and over.

serious.,

whoever is moding this...please explain yourself

You have not answered the question yourself, and in fact derailed your own thread by demanding people provide links then attacking them that their links are not good enough. Thanks for pointing that out Dante.

I don't think any credit should be given to anyone, regardless of who they are, that uses taxpayer money to keep afloat a failing business. So much could have been proffered in terms of economic vitality had they been broken up and more enterprising companies left to pick up the pieces and pass those savings and good manufacturing onto the consumer.

Does President Obama get credit for saving GM?
Here is an old thread OP. Started out fine...

Did Obama Save GM?
GM Profit Rises to $1.54 Billion on Auto Sales Gains

GM Profit Rises to $1.54 Billion on Auto Sales Gains - BusinessWeek

For the longest time we have been subjected to wild rants about Obama 'taking over' GM. Socialism on the march!

Now it looks like GM is on the road to becoming a profitable private entity again -- thanks to Obama.

Does Obama get credit?

---

“Last year GM was shutting down plants when they filed” Chapter 11, said Wall, who is based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. “This summer, most of its U.S. plants were running full out.”

btw, is the above quote an example of the new generation of editors being dumbed down? who is 'Wall'?

I don't have the latest stats handy, but the conversation can go forward as is: Did Obama save GM and does he deserve credit, and if not, why not?

:eusa_whistle:

note: old links broken or..

anyway: GM Profit Rises to $1.54 Billion, Plans IPO Up to $16 Billion - Bloomberg

what a waste of time and effort

:eusa_shhh:

Can you get some quotes to where we have done any of that? I can quote where you failed to uphold the rules all over in this thread.

You can give him the credit for G.M. if you want but does that mean we can also give him the blame for Solyndra?

Do you give the President credit for saving GM?

and please, in a separate post describe your Solyndra argument.
If you consider the President giving the OK for the money for GM saving them then fine he saved them. I have to wonder though if GM had taken that money and continued to screw up in the way they had that got them in that position would you be asking if the President destroyed GM.
