Sorry immie

I just did it...it typed up a big post and then just deleted and said sorry

Um, yeah, if you saw my last post to OneWorld, you'd realize I don't do it always. Someday, I'm going to have to apologize to that man. /sigh!

I wonder if I can do it via ESP?

I'm just curious.

I find a lot of times i see a thread with some tripe going back and forth and I want to say something...i'll even sometimes write up a post. But then i dont post or say anything.

Usually I think about it for a second and realize what's the point. People are saying dumb stuff and fighting over it and i'm just not going to be able to bring them out of that.

So i move on.

Do you do this?

There are a TON of loyal followers of mine who would JUMP at the chance to agree with me when I say, "I have posted some dopey stuff from time to time."

Some of my stuff has been so lame that even I would have to neg rep myself if I didn't promptly think better of it and just delete that crap.

So, yes.

I have made a post or three which I saw fit to delete. And sometimes that even includes what WOULD have been an "OP."

I've never deleted a post once it's submitted. If I had the bad judgment to post it I think it's only right to own it. I delete my share of posts before hitting the button though.

I can think of at least 2 occasions since being on this board I really, really should have done that and for some reason just....didn't.

You DO own it -- even if you have the insight in a sufficiently timely way to delete it.

But if you've ever had the experience of just wishing you could suck some words right back out of thin air -- the delete option can be like a wish granted.

If someone has already responded, however, I agree with you. Then, we should own it and maybe own up to the fact that we said something stupid. Why defend a position you don't really espouse in the first place?

Good point.

Yup all the time

I delete posts before I hit submit, I delete posts after I hit submit, I delete the double posts I sometimes make because I try to go in and fix something and a double post occurs. Most of all I go in and freaking edit whatever I've written, either for context, spelling or typos. And I always proofread my stuff first. Just shoot me.

ETA: I just had to edit this post to fix the word 'go'. I spelled 'got' instead. Double barrel shot gun, if you please.

I will go back and edit my posts as well and usually see some glaring errors after I hit submit reply. I don't know why it is so much easier for these old eyes to see the errors after I hit submit than before?

Nor do I know why I bother since when I read the posts from others sometimes I think I am the only one that rereads my posts.

Type it out and then decide not to "submit reply"? Yes. Not necessarily for that reason. Frequently I decide that what I have to say cannot ever be diplomatic enough, witty enough, not to be just plain bitchy. See? Even arrogant bitches have bad days....

Occasionally.

At times, I get so frustrated with a poster that I write a very insulting post, then several minutes later start regretting it and editing what I wrote or deleting it all together. If I'm getting into a nasty exchange, I'll often hope a poster doesn't respond so I won't feel like I have to respond.

Yes. Had it not been for all the posts I have deleted, I would have had a post count of 2,625.
