on the daily there’s a bunch of threads here about “socialism “. Almost now of them have to deal with true socialism . Instead it becomes a slur for somthing they don’t like .

When confronted , cons can’t even define the word . Or even give coherent examples .

So I ask. What is “socialism”? . And what are examples of socialism in the US ?

Everything about the Lefts agenda is socialism, how can it be overused?

And why are you terrified of the label?

Never mind, we know.

Thanks for proving my point .

The socialists stole the term "liberal" back in the 1920s, to try and disguise their true intentions.....They just can't admit what they are, now want to debase the language even more.

Another one .

Can’t define it or even give an example .

If you get a pizza with anchovies on it are you like “this pizza is socialism!” .

You can say that about racism but not about socialism...we all had enough of it under Obama...the nation is still pulling back from socialism so its meaningless?...I don't think so sugar.....

Just because a specific group of people supposedly can't define it, that doesn't mean it has lost all meaning. Of course, the "left" attempts to disassociate with their failures so often that you're really not helping to make it easily definable. For example, claiming Venezuela is something oxymoronic, like "State Capitalist" when it's applied Socialism, or claiming that Soviet Russia was "Communist" when it was applied Socialism. The same can be said for Nazi Germany, Maoist China, and Fascist Italy.

Socialism is Social Control of the means of production, something all of the above-mentioned Governments had in common.

Thanks for the definition. Now how does that apply to what Democrats are pushing for ? Gun control is socialism ? Health care safety nets is socialism?

Well if we had enough under Obama then you can easily give some examples .

How about if we go with something else...

Freeloaders?

Looters?

Pirates?

Parasites?

That make you feel better, comrade?

I can give you a huge one....Hillary (Obama policies) lost to a TV celebrity and NY real estate tycoon....you don't need more evidence than that do you?....

You want someone debasing the word, look no further than "democratic socialist" freebooter Bernie Sanders....Even the Prime Minister of his beloved "democratic socialist" paradise -Denmark- told him to STFU.

Denmark's Prime Minister tells Bernie Sanders (and others) to stop calling the country "socialist"

Actually, because they openly support further regulation, which is further control of the means of production. The difference, and what the Government doesn't think we'll notice, is that the Republicans and Democrats neither slow or increase the flow of regulations, so they're both the parties of Socialism.

I'd call your proposition for "safety nets" Communist, but Communists are more honest, and want NO government and NO currency, and for EVERYONE to be equal, while the Republicans, Democrats, and the Government want everyone to be equal EXCEPT those in government, who would be living in penthouses while the population lives in shanties. It's only commonly associated with Socialism due to the government baiting people into supporting its outright theft of the fruits of people's labor, by redistributing that wealth, creating an unsustainable set of Social programs which dissuade people from working.

As for advocating for Gun Control, that's typically part of Socialism due to its totalitarianism, or tendency towards it. So, I guess while someone typically would call another Totalitarian for supporting the disarming of innocent people, treating them like criminals despite having done nothing to be robbed of their rights, and promoting crime in the process, one probably wouldn't call another socialist for it. So, I guess congrats on being Totalitarian instead of Socialist on this subject, despite the terms being technically inseparable?

Open borders means anyone who makes a certain amount for a living gets to support the whole world.

What's hilarious is that the "Nordic Model" contradicts Socialism by being more economically free than America, yet the Socialists can't point anywhere else.

Actually communists are for TOTAL gubmint...The term "anarcho-communist" is a semantic contradiction.....But spot on the rest of the way.

I only referred to it that way because the Communist manifesto defines it that way, and the Anarcho-Communists claim it's what they support. I typically refer to them as "Anarcho-Statists". I just figure it's best not to poke fun at them right now, since at the very least they oppose THIS State.
