Colin Powell: GOP Holds 'Dark Vein Of Intolerance'

Colin Powell is an Affirmation Action poster child who resents other Blacks whose success was based on merit.

"shuckin' and jivin" isn't that a sports term used primarily for football running backs.

No

No, ok let's see what it does mean and how the term is used regarding your dear leader by members of BOTH parties.

Shuckin' and jivin' (or shucking and jiving) is a slang term for the behavior of joking and acting evasively. More generally, the term can also refer to the speech and behavioral mechanisms adopted in the presence of an authoritative figure.[1] Shuckin' and jivin' usually involves clever lies and impromptu storytelling, used to one-up an opponent or avoid punishment. The term is also used in the Southern United States referring to deceit or mischief involving lies.

The use of the phrase in modern American politics has generated controversy at times. In 2008, then New York attorney general Andrew Cuomo said of then Democratic Party candidate Barack Obama (who was running against Hillary Clinton, the candidate Cuomo supported): "You can't shuck and jive at a press conference." Cuomo received criticism from some for his use of the phrase, with Roland Martin of CNN stating that "“Shucking and jiving” have long been words used as a negative assessment of African Americans, along the lines of a “foot shufflin’ Negro.”" [4] Similarly, on October 25, 2012, former Republican Party Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin generated controversy when she stated "President Obama's shuck and jive shtick with these Benghazi lies must end"

Funny how Powell never mentioned democrat Cuomo using the exact same term, do you think his memory is failing, or could there be other reasons.

Colon is doing Dems work for 2016, already attacking Palin

That's how much she frightens them

It's amazing how black conservatives are only given respect as long as they're useful. Powell should be bought a drink by every American conservative in the country for the way he did his duty selling a pile of lies and putting his reputation on the line for the neo-con wet dream of endless war in the Middle East. Yet as soon as his usefulness is up and he says what's on his mind, they turn on him like a den of snakes. This should be a warning to all minority members of conservative causes.

He endorsed Obama-- twice, how is he a "Conservative"?

Powell, LOL, no one takes him seriously.

He's like Starkey

I looked over the sea of white faces at the Republican National Convention and wondered how they every get racial minorities to vote for them. Talk about the party of Old White Men. Romney's ". . . binders full of women" comment was just the cherry on the top of the ice-cream sundae that was Mittens entire campaign. How has a 50 something Wall Street Business executive never met any capable, competent women in all of his working life? Not one - he had to get binders full of women to help him with his appointments. It boggles the mind.

I'm sure the Republican/Tea Party have a few "token" gays, Blacks, Jews, Asians, Hispanics and poor BUT that hardly qualifies as being "very inclusive!"

He wasn't. And neither was bush.

Does Powell still call himself a republican? Is he old enough to remember that democrats voted against the Civil Rights act? Powell is the symbol of what Black men can become and instead of telling Black men that they can be a success he whines and makes excuses for failure.

"Designing Woman", really? More like pathetic dupe. Do you really think limiting a search to fill highly responsible positions in Government should be limited to just people your familiar with? Only a freaking idiot would do that and the method used to compile the files on possible candidates is really immaterial. The point is to cast the widest net possible to find the best and the brightest to surround yourself with, a concept your dear leader has yet to learn. You might want to take a management course or two before you try to disparage the management style of successful people.
