Seems the article is in reality a rehash of what happened two years ago, skirting the newest emails that do put 'lie' to some of the investigations that followed the original release. I must admit that I was concerned that climategate 1.0 did not have the full impact that it should have had. you only get one chance to catch wrongdoers by surprise before they modify their methods to hide their malfeasence. I think it was a stroke of genius to hold back evidence that shatters the rationalizations and spin used to explain away the first set of emails.

there is no doubt that the public has been fed a distorted and incomplete version of 'climate science'. inappropriate pressure was put on scientists to toe the line and extraordinary efforts were used to suppress contrary studies from being published or acknowledged.

those people that are still supporting the climate science principals like Mann and Jones should read accounts by both sides and then decide which explanations make more sense. I am more shocked at how peripheral scientists have continued to support the lack of integrity of Mann, Jones, etc than I am of those who did the misdeeds trying to spin the facts to save their skin. Hey, it was only a small lie, and it was for the Noble Cause of saving the world from Thermageddon. So you had David tell me the data was available on the web. You knew that was a lie. David, apparently, didn’t realize it was a lie, at least at first. You hoped your Noble Lie would satisfy me, that I would get discouraged, and you could move on.

But I asked again, and when I called you on that first answer, you thought up another Noble Lie. And when that one didn’t work, you invented another Noble Lie.

How about those glaciers that are advancing that you love to ignore. What about them? As far as a bunch of pissed scientists goes, they have nothing to be pissed about (uhhh, other then that getting caught falsifying data and colluding to keep dissenting papers out of the peer review process of course) all that has happened has occured because of THEIR shenanigans. Former Chancellor Nigel Lawson's Global Warming Policy Foundation warned against ignoring 'shortcomings' in a letter strongly critical of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
It said: 'The BBC, in determining its policy towards the coverage of global warming, which is of course not simply a scientific issue but an economic and a political issue, too, ought to shred that section of the Jones review and revert to the impartiality laid down in its charter.'
He was also strongly critical of sections of the media who lent support to the scientists.

Andrew Orlwowski, UK science site The Register's science correspondent comments on one email that says, 'What if climate change turns out to be a natural fluctuation? They'll kill us all'

'The stink of intellectual corruption is overpowering.'

Orlowski says, 'That won't be necessary.'

Clive Crook, a commentator for the Atlantic, who described the earlier inquiries into the Climategate emails as 'ineffectual' and 'mealy mouthed', reportedly said, 'The closed-mindedness of these supposed men of science, their willingness to go to any lengths to defend a preconceived message, is surprising even to me.

'The stink of intellectual corruption is overpowering.'
There is other correspondence from scientists such as Prof Michael Mann, director of the Earth System Science Centre at Penn State University, some of which have a distinct feel of PR 'spin'.
The release of the information echoes the 'Climategate' leaks of hacked private emails two years ago ahead of crunch climate talks in Copenhagen that referred to ways to ‘hide the decline’ in global warming.

A series of independent reviews cleared the East Anglia researchers of impropriety, but they were told they had been too secretive.
Today's leak may also be timed to disrupt the next session of the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change next week in South Africa.
