Cities water supply poisoned by- you guessed it: an oil pipelaine leak

Up to 50,000 gallons of oil spilled on Saturday from a break in a 12-inch pipeline owned by Wyoming-based Bridger Pipeline Co.

Representatives from Montana and the US Environmental Protection Agency said preliminary tests did not show cause for concern but additional tests ordered after residents complained of a petroleum or diesel-like smell from their tap water revealed the benzene.

The worst contamination of water came from idiot environmentalists, such as yourself, who forced MTBE to be used as an oxygenate in gasoline to clean the air pollution.

MTBE AND GROUNDWATER CONTAMINATION

MTBE and Groundwater Contamination
The MTBE issue was, of course, one of containment. Isn't this what it's all about- containment? MTBE worked well as an oxygenate and there was really no reason to ban its use.... until.

Until - along came the ass-fucking farmer with ETOH.

MTBE was railroaded out of use by the Agriculture lobby and Ag state politicians in order to pave the road for ETOH.

Now they've diverted 58 million acres of arable land in order to make so MUCH ethanol that they are now DEMANDING an increase from 10% blends to 15% blends. PLUS, they are EXPORTING the shit to the tune of tens of millions of gallons MONTHLY.

Back to the issue of containment... each year, 20 million pounds of Ag chemicals are spread over our lands across this country and NO ONE bitches about it?? How's that for "containment". :slap:

And where do these chemicals end up? I think you know the answer to that one.

Containment is an issue with a substance that is as corrosive as MTBE is. However, the atmosphere itself was contaminated as well. There were many reports of people suffering terrible allergy type symptoms from the MTBE. I agree with you that ethanol as an oxygenate is incredibly stupid. I personally think that adding oxygenates to gasoline is stupid. You get less range, so have to burn more fuel. Modern engines don't need an oxygenate to burn gasoline cleanly.

It is an obsolete method of dealing with a problem that was at its peak in the 1970's.

twat, please rid yourself of all oil based products and services right now.

or post again and prove your are a fucking hypocrite

uhm

Prove you are still a fucking hypocrite

Expect more of this worthless propaganda while the Keystone is in its genesis.

indeed it seems unlikely that benzene if found in the water came from crude oil
BINGO... We have a Winner! they miss attributed the source and then tout it as truth... More lies from the socialist control mongering left.. But not unexpected from DOT.FOOL

And some wonder why we check everything these fools post... The facts dam the fools...

Check it out. The denier dumbasses actually didn't know that benzene is a natural constituent of crude oil.

But then, if they weren't completely ignorant of every aspect of science, they wouldn't be deniers.

I'd like to see a denier cultist go over there and drink that tainted water. They'd chicken out like Shammity did on water boarding lol

Good, then we can eliminate the EPA since they serve no function.

It does when Democrats are in charge but then you accuse them of over regulating.

What you need to eliminate are Republican governors

No, a 60 year old pipeline with corrosion problems creates a major problem, and poisons a pristine river. File that under criminal negligence on the part of the pipeline owner. A CEO should be doing jail time in a hardtime Federal lockup.

Bullshit. The EPA on the spot violated every safety protocol on the books and then after they had dumped the toxic mess in the river they violated their own laws and didn't report it to the local authorities for over 24 hours. They fucked up big time and the only question now is whether it was intentional as some claim.

"Based on my 47 years of experience as a professional geologist," Taylor wrote, "it appears to me that the EPA is setting your town and the area up for a possible Superfund blitzkrieg."

Superfund is, according to the EPA's website,

the name given to the environmental program established to address abandoned hazardous waste sites. It is also the name of the fund established by the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act of 1980, as amended.... It allows the EPA to clean up such sites and to compel responsible parties to perform cleanups or reimburse the government for EPA-lead cleanups.

Taylor references a June meeting between the newspaper's editors and a representative from the EPA, who reportedly told them "we don't have an agenda" – meaning the agency – a statement which Taylor described as "either ignorant naivety or an outright falsehood."

He went on to lay out "the scenario that will occur based on my experience," in which he says that, after the plugging of the breached dam, exfiltrating water will be retained behind the ramparts, "accumulating at a rate of approximately 500 gallons per minute."

My, my, we are talking of the spill in Montana. There is a seperate thread on the Animas. Mr. Westwall, you are trying to change the subject once again. This thread is about a spill on the Yellowstone that should not have happened. The owner of that pipeline was completely at fault. In fact, over half the pipelines that are carrying oil in this nation are over age, and running at reduced pressure because of corrosion. There have been many failures, and deaths have resulted from those failures. Time to hold the companies that have made vast profits off those pipelines responsible for there upkeep and replacement.
