This one from Yemen blows me away

I've seen these and know they have seeds with shells like armor and an amazing soft center.

I have them growing wild in my neighborhood.

Me too. I like the twisty papery bark. The berries are edible.

They don't live long, relative to oaks and most conifers. But, they make excellent firewood, and that's what's going to be heating my house up tonight.

I took this pic of a tree last Autumn. It's mostly a picture of ferns. Whatever, I was in the Sinkyone Wilderness Conservation Area, just hiking.

California Question

Has anyone seen those squishy trees in California? Gosh, what are they called?

I'm thinking of buying an eco-hybrid vehicle. I liked the Priuses that Toyota was making last decade.

The giant tree from Yemen really makes you wonder about the capitalism-playground attitudes behind making tree-houses but using chainsaws to liberally rip down trees for paper. Maybe email will reduce the demand for paper letters.
