I SERIOUSLY doubt those stats. And of those who are mugged or sexually assaulted, how many would be helped by having a weapon and how many would be further harmed if they had a weapon?

True, having a weapon is not a guaranteed that an individudal is not going to be murdered or assaulted. In addition to bearing arms , individuals must be aware of their surroundings, know how to use their weapons and should not be concerned that the authorities are going to harass them for defending their life.
