Even if I happen to agree with that, if you feel Jason vanDyke was justified in his action you are assigning extraordinary power to a fellow who, if not for the grace of a civil service test, would be delivering packages for UPS or FedEx -- if the union would have him. You are affording this insignificant individual the power over life and death. But have you considered the fact that the same power would extend to his deciding to kill you or me? How do you feel about that?

The bottom line is Patrolman Jason vanDyke had no right to do what he did. Be assured you wouldn't want to live in a society which imparted such arbitrary power to guys like him. If Laquan McDonald deserved to be shot down like a mad dog in the street, which might well be true, it should only be done by some anonymous assassin who would step out of the shadows, do it, and disappear. Not by some low-level civil servant who wrongfully presumes such action to be within the purview of his clearly limited authority.

The context of this tape is pretty clear. This kid was not a threat, he could have easily been subdued with a Taser or batons. He certainly was not a threat after the first bullet hit him and he was on the ground in a fetal position and Van Dyke shot him 15 more times.

If businesses suffer because of BLM protest, can they sue? Many businesses rely on the holiday shopping for a third of their revenue.

Businesses that could go out of business will mean few job and taxes for the area, which could hurt "black lives" even more.

The christmas giving should be for people to commit to their neighborhoods and do what it takes to bring more jobs and more business to improve the lives and wealth of the people there.

Protesting and hurting the stores is just hurting themselves. Companies will move to white neighborhoods if they need to and blacks will just complain more.


What is the statistic for black on black killings? The cop was arrested it is in the hands of the court and jurors. Go home and take care of your children so they will not commit crimes and ever have a conflict with law enforcement. Love your children. Teach them well. Make sure they walk the right path and don't fall into gangs or crime. That would be the best present to them and to the community.

Reach out help someone older or disabled get their shopping to the car or onto the bus or walk them back home. Reach out with a smile and a hand shake wishing them the best of the season. Set up neighborhood watches. Organize street carolers. Donate time to charities. Help the homeless with warm clothes and a cup of soup. Maybe invite someone home for a good meal and a bit of family cheer. Grab a broom or shovel to clean the side walk. Report a broken street light. Help people cross a road so they don't slip or drop their packages. Get to know your neighbors and share a cup of coffee with them. Get to know the local police and find ways to help them help the neighborhood.

If they can organize against the police, why can't they organize against crime and to bring more jobs where they are needed?
