Capitalism vs Socialism

WANT TO KEEP
WANT MORE

I have been and still am a capitalist, but the question must be asked, "If capitalism works so well, why then are there so many homeless resulting from capitalism run amok?" Why are our cities such a mess if capitalism works so well?

Part of the answer to those questions is the fact that we have capitalism run amok, crony capitalism, whatever you want to call it. Our corporations are run by "leaders" who do not know right from wrong.
The answer

Absent a Socialistic government that provides resources and protection to the Capitalist, Capitalism could not exist.

No roads?
No police protection?
No laws protecting individual property?
None of that is socialism. Find yourself a dictionary.

Who owns the police?
Who owns the army?

WE do.
We as in society.
We as in collection of privately held assets for the public good.

Ashamed of yourself for your Socialism I see.

Go read the definition of the word. Then we'll talk.

Go develop an understanding of the word and you'll seem less silly.
Sigh... Well, if you're going to use a "very special definition", you'll need to tell us what it is.

Until you do, this is what I'll use:

a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.
"we want a real democratic and pluralist left party—one which unites all those who believe in socialism"

You do know, of course, that law enforcement once fell to the armed forces of the local land owner.
A force that answered to no law beyond that of the lord.
But now the police are owned by the people, serve the people, answer to the people.
THAT is Socialism.

No. Law enforcement is specifically assigned as a power of government.

Why the big push to redefine socialism? It's seems like flim flam to me. Skip the shell games and say what you mean.

the word is used to refer to alot of things. But at the core, what is supposed to mean is "democracy in the workplace". The employer - employee relationship. With socialism, the employees collectively are the employer, which would imply that the employees own the corporation in order to have that power. Examples of this might be publix supermarkets, or mondragon corporation, winco foods etc. Are they better places to work at?

Didn't used to be.
Used to belong to the Lord.
Didn't serve the people.
Privately employed
Privately paid

Got highways?
Built by private owners?
Used to be.
How'd they build highways?
By taking private property and using it for the public good
SOCIALISM

I can't think of any "highway" built by private owners. Certainly not anything that wasn't dirt.
