Look at the responses in the past to sports-related riots.

This has been handled very badly. Nixon is a total loss and they purposely caused more unrest than might have been if he had handled it differently.

The news has also been very inflammatory. Very few rioted or did damage. A lot of black citizens were protesting peacefully until the cops escalated it. Most people went home when it got violent.

Don't expect the racists here to admit that this has been handled badly though.

That's a little racist. White rioters can be just as opportunistic and dumb as black rioters. Perhaps that shows that true equality is getting closer.

It is a cultural thing. The media is carrying on a conversation with a specific socioeconomic class.
The problem with those white people is that they get drunk and wreak destruction because they can. Dad will bail 'em out.That is the second one this year with the same result.
The universities then condemn that action but make it seem under control because they don't want future admissions to be impacted. There is money behind the festival.

Everybody knew that there were other groups that had been to Ferguson. In fact, that was a primary bitch from the get go.

That said, I'm not too impressed with alternative media at the moment. In fact, they just kind of played right back into it so conveniently that many of the problems won't be resolved.
