Can we speculate on LV shooter's motive?

Let me preface by saying I didn't see a thread addressing this specific discussion.

What might his motive have been?

If his motive was religious, then I would speculate that he became Muslim. No other faith in modern times engages in mass carnage in the name of their religion.

If his motive was political, I would speculate that he has aligned himself with antifa based on the fact that he targeted a huge, country music concert.

He could have been disgruntled with Las Vegas and used this as a way to punish the city.

Or, he could have been jilted by a lover and used this as a way to lash out.

Or he could have just been nuts, like the kid at Sandy Hook or like John Hinckley, who tried to kill Reagan to demonstrate his love for Jodie Foster.
well since no one knows, the only thing we can do is speculate. my main issue with that is - people then turn around and start to make their pet theories correct.

for me, i don't need to speculate. he's a sick man and in time we'll learn why.

queue conspiracy theories from here.

The 'Conservatives' constantly need an enemy. Without that enemy, they have no reason for their type of insanity. They need a domestic enemy, liberals, and a foreign one, Muslims. Then they can feel justified to hate all they want, and make noises about civil war, and killing those that disagree with them in any way. Lovely fellows.

You were too sane for too long and were due to go unhinged on us.

Of course we can, it's america, we'll speculate ourselves into another partisan blamefest.

It's a discussion forum. Your participation is not required.
Yes, it is. Someone has to point out the insanity of assholes like you.

Did I hurt your k*nt? Here you go.

Motive.......................

Unlike most mass murderers, the perp was not a young man. In fact, he was a near senior citizen.

Unlike most, he was not a failure in life, in fact, was a multi-millionaire, successful by anyone's standards.

Unlike most, he did not have a record of brushes with the law.

At present, no known religious affiliation, radical or otherwise.

In fact, he does not fit the profile of mass murderers or that of a terrorist. Just about as far from the standard profiles as one can get. So what is going on here?
Read my link in GD. Mission impossible - LV shooter
Read it. And you are wrong. I will be 74 next month. I still work 12 hour shifts as a millwright in a steel mill. I am not a physically impressive specimen, but can still do that very physically demanding work. And, with enough adrenaline flowing, ten minutes of operating those guns is well within the physical capabilities of some one ten years younger than I am.

But, as I stated, we need to see what the police and FBI find out. Realizing that they may find out nothing that gives us a clue to his state of mind at the time of the shooting. Sane, trying to understand insane, sometimes is just an impossibility.

What is impressive that at age 74 you have not provided for yourself enough to enjoy a financially worry free retirement.

Even more impressive is that you work 12 hours at your job and about 24 hours on USMessageboard.

Explains the idiocy of your posts,

Just about an hour before he started shooting the audience of several thousands sang "God Bless America".

That would piss off all atheists, All globalists, All socialists,

The main motivation, however, was righteous: Loyalty to the Democrat Party.

Kill as many Trump voters as possible in order to ensure Democrat victory next election,

Paddock had already filled his room with over 20 guns, shooting tripods, thousands of rounds of ammo and bump stocks to allow a high rate of fire. It was planned well in advance and was not a result of singing "God Bless America" an hour earlier

He filled his room with weaponry because he wanted to kill people who love their country, like country music, believe in God, respect the flag and the anthem, honor the results of an election and voted for the President.

In other words, the exact opposite of you and any and all progressives.

I would be tempted to say that he was your soul mate but obviously, he had no soul and I doubt that you do.

We all want to be amateur detectives and I have been pondering this case multiple ways. From what I can tell, this guy is apparently a "professional gambler".

As someone who has been to the casino many times to play poker against other players, I can tell you that its the only game you can win at in the casino, and it's not easy. Even then, it's very difficult as so many poker players are now well informed about odds and strategy and of course, you pay the house in a 10% rake and tips.

If he was playing $100 a hand against the House at the table or video poker, then he is a professional casino loser, sieve, or whale if he had any money. A professional might suggest he was earning some money from the casino. I don't believe it and say he was losing cash. We have many multi million dollar high rollers who borrowed from the province to wager (as the province who owns the casinos know they will never win so they extend big credit), they just had to basically write off tens of millions in bad loans, as they aren't repaid.

The only way you can win in the casino would be to go a couple of times, win big and never return. He clearly enjoyed going there. So, I surmise he was a casino loser. The $40,000 he won at the casino is chump change based on his betting level, and the fact he called his brother and showed him a picture of the win, shows to me, he was far too happy about a generally "modest" win based on his stakes. I have seen people betting $5 a spin, win $30,000 and when they are having the money placed into their hands they look like someone ran over their dog. Translation, they are down BIG.

His brother saying he was a multi-millionaire also needs to be supported by facts. Does that mean he has a million in assets? Has spent millions (wins and losses) over the years? Does he have a couple of million in the bank in liquid cash? Or, did he take out reverse mortgages to support his gambling?

So, is it possible, that Vegas doesn't want the narrative to be about a disturbed and angry gambler who lost a great deal at the casino? Noone wants to be associated with this guy, especially if there could be some very angry families who might ask the casinos about their excessive exploitation of a gambler, who lost it and took so many with him. It could lead to some sort of "ban" policy of big losers, which of course, no casino would want. They also have a new NHL team starting this week in Vegas, and this is not the publicity they want.

It's just a theory and I have to think it needs to be explored in full and ruled out. The fact that terror was ruled out so quickly, leads me to think someone suspects something that is not political in nature.

Everything you said plus his dad was once on the FBIs most wanted list and was known as a psychopath with suicidal tendencies.

We have no indication that was his motive

The concert could just be a target of opportunity

Motivation:

He was mentally insane and trying to rationalize his reasoning for doing what he did would be trying to understand the meaning of life and you will have too many answers and all of them could be somewhat correct.

So again he was insane!

I think his old lady dumped him for a real man and left the country. He couldn't take it so he lashed out against the type of people she is now with.

It's more probable than a guy just woke up and decided to kill people. A guy like this has to have some dark motive to release this much rage.

Anything you can openly share that lead you to this, or just a hunch/theory?

If I remember correctly it has been reported that he has multiple residences as well as two smalls planes registered in his name. It could be that he lost big enough to put himself severely in debt :dunno:.

This is the possibility that needs to be cleared for the sake of the families and all of America really. Of all vices, I believe that gambling is the worst. It's internally destroying you because so many are sitting on a pot of gold one moment, they next they have lint in their pockets and they tell themselves "why"?!?! Some people might blow through a grand a day with some addiction, big time gamblers blow through that in a minute.

It's not hard to lose it all. Worse, when you are retired and that's your life savings and you have no way to recoup these losses as you aren't working anymore.

The guy could be a crazy maniac just like his father

He may have just suppressed his urges for 64 years

More likely he felt encouraged by the hateful and violent rhetoric from the left to go out and kill as many conservatives as possible so he figured he could bag a whole bunch at a country music concert. The msm will do everything they can to keep it hidden if that turns out to be the case.

This one on the surface looks very puzzling.
Once the demographic of the shooter was revealed, I simply assumed the reason he went off, was he's bitter that he's old, probably doesn't have a retirement plan, health is failing, etc, and jealous that everyone else seems to be having fun.
However, it looks like he's had a good life, has money, property, maybe a girlfriend, just not the guy you'd expect to go off like this.

So what is it? A brain tumor? Is actually poor due to losing it all gambling? What makes someone like this turn into an evil bastard that will now be despised for eternity?

Evidently, he was gambling heavily before the shooting

But it doesn't seem like the cause ...more like...I'm going to die anyway, might as well shoot the wad

He brought the guns with him. It wasn't a spontaneous reaction to losing a bunch of money, he intended to do it all along.
