Now this is what's hilarious. 100 billion a year in Iraq is ALL we spent? That's only a trillion. Of course, that's just the cost to the military. Add in the cost spent rebuilding Iraq. The cost of rebuilding our military. The cost of taking care of tens of thousands of American soldiers maimed in Iraq - for life.

Of course, I suspect the Republicans will find a way to turn them out into the streets with nothing. I've already seen their strategy. Those soldiers "volunteered" and they "knew the cost". They only have themselves to blame. Bush never lied. If they thought they were invading Iraq because of 9/11, then that was something they must have gotten from Democrats. Remember, helping those soldiers is "socialism". And we don't want that.

And for what? Put Iraqi women in burkas? Make Iraq friends with Iran? Republicans are behind the most evil and the biggest blunders this nations ever seen? Look how well they caught Bin Laden. We need a reason to believe that this prediction in the OP will come true. Do we have one? I say no, because the "deficits don't matter" mantra has not historically been a position the left have espoused. It's a position that has been taken by the right in the past. Thus, I do not believe that two years from now the left will suddenly start making this a position of their own. IF anyone does, I expect it to be the right again. But then again, I have no reason to expect that anyone will adopt that position two years from now.

The fact is policies proposed by Democrats may or may not have result in higher deficits. A cost benefit analysis is necessary in making such judgments.

What has been the cost of the Iraq war? What benefits have we enjoyed?
