Are you ready to start voting third party yet?

What do you think would of happened if Trump ran third party instead of republican in the last election?
He would have split the Republican vote and Crazy Hillary would have won.
You don’t think he would have pulled the Bernie crew in? He would have taken a much more moderate view on many issues. It would have been interesting
Sanders is a socialist, so I don't see Trump being attractive to many of them.
Bernie had a large anti establishment following. Trump did as well. Difference was Bernie had the liberals and trump had the conservatives.
Exactly, so I can't any possible crossover vote among Sanders supporters.

Sanders is a socialist,
Hmm, not really. A true socialist thinks government should become a co-op that controls the means of production and the resources. he's more of a democratic socialist, who believes ion a mixed system with plenty of capitalism. he just believes certain things should not be tainted with profit motive. Others argue that profit motive is always good, as it leads to more value.

I’ve been voting third-party for years. The last presidential election I voted for either a Republican or Democrat was 2004

So for the last three elections, all you have done is tossed your vote into a heap of votes that don’t really matter.

Did a vote for Trump matter?

Choose your answer carefully as the debt approaches $21 trillion

Many of Bernie supporters were young voters, and thus idealistic. They are also easily swayed. The question- could Trump have sold himself as the ideal third party canidate to the young. Who knows, he is quite the barker.
Sanders supporters were young liberals, even socialists, so if Trump had tried to change his message to appeal to them, he would have lost his right wing supporters and Crazy Hillary would have won.

It’s all speculation. Trump decided to run Republican because he knew the Dems had already anointed Hellary as their canidate while the Repubs made the mistake of having an actual election. He could have just as easily been a pro-choice dem.

haha.... ooookay! Yes, I'm sure he decided on the GOP run well after being the Birther in Chief if the United States for a few years... come on.

I seriously don't understand voting for some one you know can't win.

I can't understand voting for someone you know is going to be shit, and screw you over, and not do their job properly and not represent the people they're supposed to represent.

Your attitude is the very attitude the two main parties encourage.
I haven't seen a third party candidate who had a chance of winning, but I do see one candidate being better than the other in terms of supporting my positions on Issue. I agreed with Trump on many issues and Hillary didn't have positions on most issues, so it was an easy decision. As you grow up, much of life becomes about compromises. Most people don't get the job they really want, earn as much as they really want, marry the woman they really would have wanted to marry or have children who are as perfect as they would have liked, but they are at peace with this because they know they did the best they could have, so I don't look for emotional fulfillment when I vote for president, I just look the the best candidate who has a chance to win the election.

It sucks as a third party voter because then you can't vote in some of the primaries, and a true third party candidate can't afford to have a real campaign against the Democrat or Republican machine.

Well, he has been maintaining he is a socialist for his entire political career, so you should send him an email and set him straight on this.

A third party could win a presidential election. But only if it found a national hero to run for the office. The only way such a hero could emerge is through winning, in a very short time, a World War. Like a general.

The sooner we have World War III the sooner we can take America back. Provided, of course the "hero" referenced above emerges and America wins. A little better chance of that these days than under (failed) New Messiah/Apologist-in-Chief Comrade Kenya.

But only a little.

Trump is not an ideologue but he does have strong positions on many issues like trade, taxes foreign policy, immigration, etc. and I can't see these positions being attractive to too many Democrats.

I really though Storm'n Norman Schwarzkopf or Colin Powell were going to be president after Desert Storm.

I hardly ever post anymore, but I felt this was a good time to do so. Wow, who would've ever thought it would be possible to completely outspend the Obama Democrats spending bills? Well guess what? It has been done. The GOP pulled it off! Seriously GOP, nobody will ever believe you again when you say how you're the party of smaller government and fiscal responsibility. I've always stated the two biggest lies are when the Democrats espouse how they are the party for working class America, and when Republicans bloviate about how they are for small government and reduced spending.

Nancy Pelosi stated "we won" with this spending bill. Really Nancy, just who is we? We certainly isn't America. Your definition of we is as follows: you, the Democrats and Republicans, and the most important "we" is the "we" both your party and the GOP are controlled by - the rich global elite. I laugh at the Russian collusion diatribe, it's a joke. The only collusion I see is between Democrats and the GOP in that they make sure the only "we" that wins is them and their rich global elitist masters.

Had enough yet? I've heard many frustrations from those on the left, those on the right, as well as those somewhere in between. Yet every election the majority of Americans fall into the same old trap: "oh those Republicans are pure evil, the Democrats are the good guys", or "oh those Democrats are pure evil, the Republicans are the good guys". Well, the truth is, both parties are pure evil, both are traitors to America and have completely betrayed our Founding Fathers.

So what are you going to do about? Keep falling for the same old rhetoric? Keep falling for the line of one party is more evil than the other? Wake up people and vote third party!!! Maybe, just maybe if enough people say they've had enough and do so, we can make some much needed changes. But if you keep voting Democrat or Republican, it'll just be the same old thing. Make a difference people, take a stand, vote third party. Enough is enough already.
I voted 3rd party in the case of Trump V. Hillary and also in the case of Gore V. Bush.

I could not stand either of those 4 candidates at all.

However Colin Powell covered up My Lai.

That was a political death sentence.

I understand and appreciate your rant, but there is always reality to consider. The reality is that it is all but impossible for a 3rd party POTUS canidate to win, and thus is not really viable. Neither the Repubs nor Dems want a viable third party, and not just the politicians, the rank and file do not want a third party canidate either. I am an unaffiliated voter and generally vote conservative, and would love to have a canidate to represent my positions, but am resigned to the fact that I will always have to pick between a douche bag and a turd sandwich, or most recently, between a giant orange clown and a pantsuit bull dyke.
It is more of a clear conscience vote, for me at least.

Preach it.

Yeah, that's why I never ran for president on a third party ticket.

False. He has clearly and consistently drawn the same distinction I just described.
In the Wikipedia article on Sanders, he describes himself and is described by admirers as a socialist 35 times, so you need to clue him in.

Right, because getting everything you want is for babies. No candidate will ever come along that represents all of your ideals, because you have only one vote.

Well, in Germany people get to choose the candidate, or better said the political party who will represent them the best in office.

In the US you get to choose the least crap choice between the two political parties.

Generally the US system is negative voting.

You get Trump and you get Hillary and you go "Which one would I hate to see in power?" and then you vote.

And then you realize that if you're not in one of 12 states, it doesn't matter who you voted for anyway.

Look at how many votes didn't matter.

States that matter, where really you going out and voting could decide the election.

Michigan, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Florida, Minnesota, Nevada, Arizona, North Carolina, Colorado, Iowa and Ohio.

If you're not in any of these states, it doesn't really matter.

In the other states, you're looking at millions and millions of votes that simply go and get wasted.

Republicans in California, Democrats in Texas. Why do they bother? Their vote doesn't matter. They don't get a say in the electoral process.

They count the votes, they tell you "this person got this many votes" and it doesn't matter.
