Rather telling is this paragraph regarding the end results:

Rome fell because they became a decadent society. Those that followed forgot the lessons of those that built what they had.

The same correlation can be made for the US. The weak have been born into a society where they are protected. They have no concept of EARNING what they get, they expect it. See Hurricane Katrina for a perfect example.

They immasculate the strong in the society and then get their asses waxed because they are no longer capable of self-defense, preferring to stick their heads in the sand and pretend if they can't see the bad guys, they don't exist.

Their asses get shot off just the same.

The fact that we Europeans didn't invade any country in the last forty odd years does not mean we've forgotten our history as the cradle of modern civilization many times over. We've ruled the world before, and it felt good too.

My own country, the Netherlands, has fought for every square inch of land we now possess. First with numerous nations, then with the friggin ocean itself.

And if you think Europe is one nation now, think again.
Both the French and the Dutch gave the European constitution the finger.
We've got enought political battles between us as it is, it's just that we're not too eager to jump into outright war again; didn't do us much good the last time around.

People here are quite concerned about all the Polish and Hungarian workers that are offering to do our jobs for half the wages. Corporations are happy enough, but the working people are rapidly getting sick of it.

But we are working towards the goal that Poland and Hungary will have the same standard of living as we do, so things can even out again. On such a scale, as is the case with the European Union, it may even be a workable concept. As for a global solution, not in the short term, no way.

Sure enough we need a healthy competitive drive to keep going forward, it's one of the key elements that makes capitalism so successful.

It needs to be kept in check though. Before you know it, corporations drive the policy, and under the false flag of humanitarian aid they outsource their jobs to cheap third world countries, leaving the American and European citizens with empty hands.

O wait, that's happening already.

And now on to the actual reply on this thread:
I agree there is a lot of moral decay, at least here in Europe. I can imagine you face the same problems in America as we do here: children are groomed to behave as adults from the age of six - walking around with their mobile phones and "gangsta" outfits, you'd expect them to be players. You almost forget those kids have no clue whatsoever as to what being an adult is about.
Recently in the Netherlands, it was discovered that gangrapes were common practice amongst 13 year olds in the major cities. When lawyers interviewed the perpetrayors about what they thought they had been doing, they didn't know it was a bad thing. It was all on MTV and such, all these guys with their "ho's" and "bitches". The girl didn't mind either, she thought she was supposed to be an ornament of flesh.

This kid is asked: "do you think it is bad what you're doing?"
He says: "no, it's normal"
This kid is then asked would he kiss the girl, does he understand love, and he says: "I would not kiss that girl, she has just had a penis in her mouth. That's groce."
The total disconnect was so utterly sad.

As for the moral decay in the USA:
Look around you. It should give you a clue.
