    Received in an e-mail and asked to pass along to those who understand the effect religion played in establishing America.

    As you walk up the steps to the building which houses the U.S Supreme Court, you can see near the top of the building a row of the world's law givers and each one is facing one in the middle who is facing forward with a full frontal view .. it is Moses and he is holding the Ten Commandments!

    As you enter the Supreme Court courtroom, the two huge oak doors have the Ten Commandments engraved on each lower portion of each door.

    As you sit inside the courtroom, you can see the wall, right above where the Supreme Court judges sit, a display of the Ten Commandments!

    There are Bible verses etched in stone all over the Federal Buildings and Monuments in Washington, D.C.

    How, then, have we gotten to the point that everything we have done for 220 years in this country is now suddenly wrong and unconstitutional?

    It is said that 86% of Americans believe in God. Therefore, it is very hard to understand why there is such a fuss made about having the Ten Commandments on display or "In God We Trust" on our money and having God in the Pledge of Allegiance. Why don't we just tell the other 14% to Sit Down and SHUT UP!!!

    Thank you for checking out the validity of my post. One thing I can say for sure: people who use the internet are really good at making stuff up. Maybe they are journalists in disguise. :) I have forwarded the snopes link to my e-mail source. That is about the fifth or sixth time that I have had to let someone know that something s/he obtained from the internet was just hot air.

    not all of it was hot air....some was true...sort of.....and your post made me go reaserch it.... then go read the bill of rights, dec of ind. and constitution and all the amendments.....from all that i learned a few things.....so i consider what you posted a good thing.....rep 4 U

    Just asking, but why do you think they did not just say "endowed by God"? It would make some of these current political/religious debates easier if they had.

    Intesting.

    The author of this email seems very concerned about the word "God" in the pledge, but doesn't seem to care too much last line.

    With Liberty and Justice for all.

    Not liberty for some. Not liberty for most. Not liberty for 86%. Liberty for ALL.

    It doesn't matter if 99% of the country thinks one way, it's no longer a free country once we start infringing the liberties of that 1%.

    Yeah, and it's not liberty for frickin' 14% either, and I doubt it imposes on people's rights to suppress expression of religion. Having somebody express a religion different from yours disturbs nobody's rights because, and listen carefully, YOU DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO NOT BE OFFENDED. This is America, where everybody is SUPPOSED to have the right to offend whoever they want as long as all they do is offend. I have a constitutional right to worship God wherever I damn well please (trespassing aside), use racial slurs, be a chauvanist, and remind people that black people's 'culture' has ruined everything MLK ever did. Get over it.

    If porn is protected free speech, which offends me greatly (somebody explain why it's not prostitution), then I better have my right to say 'black guy' or 'Mexican' protected instead of being forced to say 'African-American' (which is a fallacy) or 'Hispanic' (which isn't specific).

    Nobody's forcing you to say african american or hisbanic instead of black guy, ******, or ****.

    BTW, what's the difference if porn is prostitution, prostitution is not illegal. At least not on a federal level.
