Airport body scanners violate Islamic law, Muslims say

Is this ALL Muslims or a group of Muslims?
This is what happens when religion, ANY religion, is able to dictate any policy.
They, like any religon that wants to push their views on true lovers of liberty, can go to hell.
The Founders were smart dudes, weren't they?
They wanted NO religion to have a deciding voice on anything government.

When are these people going to realize that they need to detonate their explosives while waiting in line to go through the metal detector...not after getting through the metal detector?

Then again, maybe its the thrill of making it through without getting caught that they enjoy.

Well they need to adapt and compensate go for soft targets like schools subways and walmarts.

Airport body scanners violate Islamic law, Muslims say

Muslim-American groups are supporting a “fatwa” – a religious ruling – that forbids Muslims from going through the scanners at airports.

The Fiqh Council of North America – a body of Islamic scholars that includes some from Michigan – issued a fatwa this week that says going through the airport scanners would violate Islamic rules on modesty.

“It is a violation of clear Islamic teachings that men or women be seen naked by other men and women,” reads the fatwa issued Tuesday. “Islam highly emphasizes haya (modesty) and considers it part of faith. The Quran has commanded the believers, both men and women, to cover their private parts.”

The decision could complicate efforts to intensify screening of potential terrorists who are Muslim. After the Christmas Day bombing attempt in Detroit by a Muslim suspect from Nigeria, some have called for the use of body scanners at airports to find explosives and other dangerous materials carried by terrorists. Some airports are now in the process of buying and using the body scanners, which show in graphic detail the outlines of a person’s body.

But Muslim groups say the scanners go against their religion. One option offered to passengers who don’t want to use the scanners would be a pat down by a security guard. The Muslim groups are urging members to undergo those instead.

Hey! I've got another option. If you don't want to go through the scanners, then walk.

I'm a little sick of the horse manure that these jokers are trying to pass off. There is no "right" to be able to blow up an airplane which is what the end of this debate will lead to.

If you don't want to go through the scanner, then walk.

Or maybe fly on the airplane that was designed and built by Arabs.

Hospitals, nursing homes, state fairs.

They check your bags, but you could trigger the bomb to go off when the guard opens the bag.

And you could have simultaneous attacks at each of the theme park entrances, and on the monorail and in the Contemporary...it would be retribution for Alladin.

Terror Talk Growing Louder on the Web
Exclusive: U.S. Intel Officials Seeing Spike in al Qaeda-Linked Internet Chatter Focused on Ways to Thwart Airport Security

(CBS) CBS News has learned that U.S. Intelligence officials are seeing a marked increase in terror-related Internet chatter with a frightening focus: Jihadists bent on finding gaps in airport security - all linked to al Qaeda in Yemen, reports CBS News chief investigative correspondent Armen Keteyian.

On one radical website, a writer invites fellow members to post information on how to bypass airport screening.

Another member asks about explosive detection devices, writing: "We have that system in place in Algiers...does anyone know if it's capable of detecting [the flammable gas] butane?"

On another Jihadist site, a visitor questions security involving 3D scanners at British airports asking: "Can I refuse [to pass through] for religious reasons?"

Before long comes this answer: "…advise those who wish to avoid the Heathrow scanners to take the train to Paris... and then board a plane from there."

Perhaps most disturbing -- the recent discovery of a confidential TSA document on a Yemeni Web site discussing the rules for searching passengers.

WHY would he ask that? I thought Islam had nothing to do with any security threat we face?

Good they don't need to be flying anyway.

Going through the scanners is optional to all passengers.

Since 2007, TSA piloted state-of-the-art advanced imaging technologies that can detect a wide range of threats to transportation security in a matter of seconds at airports across the country to protect passengers and crews. This imaging technology is an integral part of TSA's effort to continually look for new technologies that help ensure travel remains safe and secure by staying ahead of evolving threats.

Currently, there are 40 millimeter wave imaging technology units in use at 19 airports. Six machines are used as primary screening at six airports and 34 machines are used for secondary, or random screening, as an alternative to a pat down at 13 airports.

TSA has tested both millimeter wave and backscatter imaging and announced that it plans to purchase an additional 150 backscatter units.

Use of advanced imaging technology is optional to all passengers.

Airport security: "Please step into the scanner"

Terrorist: <thinks to self 'I have a bomb'> "Why, no thank you I'm opting out".

Airport security: "Ok, you may pass".

Great system.

If they used bomb sniffing dogs no one could claim religion - why are they even doing this if it's optional?? - no one would have their privacy invaded and better security would be provided, imo.

Unless something has changed, U.S. airports are governed by U.S. law NOT Islamic law. If people don't like it, they should find a different way to travel.

Canada has Islamic law. I would guess the bombs will be on the inbound flights. I'd check the French flights close too.

I am impressed by this show of faith. Muslims need to choose their faith over the conenience of flying. The rest of us prefer to be safe and will voluntarily submit to body scans
