My brother was a king crab fisherman and a regular fish fisherman (don't ask me what kind) in the Bering Strait. Now he moves rafts of logs along the Columbia and White Salmon rivers.

I am extermely dubious of those numbers.

Although I would not doubt if someone proposed that 50% of all spouses paying child support are behind in their court ordered payments.

The tragedy of divorce in many cases is quite simple to understand if we can just give up our personal issues with the opposite gender long enough to think about this issue clearly.

Families which were bearly making it in ONE household income, find that that same income really doesn't do TWO households very well, either.

Apparently our court systems have difficulty understanding the harsh reality that just because they order that the spouse (note I say spouse and not husband? That isbecause this problem is happening to more and more women, now, too) pay some amount for the support of the children, THE PERSON so ordered to pay, actually has to have the money in order to make those payments.

I can see that many of you aren't going to like this, but you know..people do get divorced that don't hate one another sometimes, too. Just because you or I might have personally been screwed, does not mean that an entire gender needs to be hanged for it.

Family law is probably the most tragically impossible law to get right, and money is nearly always the problem, too.. Not that somebody has too much of it and won't give it away, but because they didn't have enough of it to begin with.

And even when you do get it right, shit happens, and it's wrong again because circumstances make that sound judgement of the courts no longer even remotely possible.

Not all men are deadbeats, and not all women are parasites, you know?

That's not a good solution at all. That punishes the child. "Child support" is for the child, who is the only innocent party in the whole mess.

It's a very good solution. If the man is willing to pay for the abortion because he doesn't want a child, and the woman refuses, the man should have an out. The woman's got one, but screw the man right? That's all this entire topic is ever about.

The woman can decide to have an abortion against the man's wishes and be absloved of her responsibility for a child, but he has no legal recourse if she decides to keep it against his wishes.

All of a sudden the concern is for the child. A concern that is absent if she decides to terminate the preganancy, then it's suddenly not even a child at all.

I've always thought this was a white elephant in the room, it's a Heinous injustice the power we girls have.

The friend I have, who I posted about, who's expected to pay back support even though his child was kidnapped out of state yrs ago by the mother, this friend was beaten a long time ago and stopped fighting what seemed a useless fight to him and I've always Hated that. We still go 'round on it.
