2 soldiers indicted for Gaza actionsAn indictment was filed on Thursday against two IDF staff sergeants for alleged inappropriate conduct and overstepping their position during last winters Operation Cast Lead in Gaza.
According to the charge sheet, the two ordered children to open bags which were suspected to be booby-trapped while searching a building in Tel al-Hawa, a neighborhood in southern Gaza.
Before and during the three-week offensive, IDF soldiers were expressly ordered to refrain from forcing civilians to assist them, especially when the assistance would put the civilians at risk.
The two have been investigated by Military Police since June 2009, and were indicted at a military court.
The IDF is morally committed to preventing civilians who are uninvolved in the fighting fro coming to harm, read an IDF statement released after the indictment was filed.
