Biden had withdrawn a lot of troops, in accordance with the deal Trump signed. Troops were leaving in March. By June troop numbers were down to 8,000. The problem was as soon as you pull out, with the Taliban at your doors, the Taliban would be coming in, the Afghans opposed to the Taliban would try and leave.

It was never going to be good.
