We lived with Nationalism until after WW 2 when government expanded immensely and then the great society legislation of the 1960's ramped up. We created more alphabet security/police/intelligence/spy agencies and became entrenched as the world policeman. You hate our conflict in the middle east yet support the mechanisms that created the possibility as nationalism would have not allowed it. Even Truman lamented the birth of the CIA a few years after he approved of it.

Patriotism is individual love of one's country. Nationalism is what Nazi Germany had , do you really think that's better ? Forced servitude by political parties. It is the wrong path for any free nation.

I had begun to notice this bizarre notion that Nationalism is BAD almost immediately post 9-11. I recall lifelong friends saying they thought displays of patriotism were RACIST because of the history of this country.... colonists and slavery. When I did engage back in the day, I would ask them WHAT nations do not have slavery in their past...never got anything but a scoff.

Also, it is interesting that people who live here and hate the country, DO NOT SEEM TO HAVE ISSUES WITH NATIONALISM from other countries.
