And educated and literate people of the day were favored and funded by the landowners of the time who wanted to make sure the lower classes remained illiterate, humble, subservient, in fear of judgment, hell, and dependent on the educated class to interpret scripture and all other texts for them. And that totally beneficial for the educated and wealthy class. Lower classes would abide accordingly as long as they believed their souls would be saved. Very convenient stuff. At this point its a self fulfilling prophecy that has run it's course and solidified the pyramid of wealth and class we have in the world today. Organized religion of all types have been corrupted and full of folklore twisted conveniently for the benefit of the upper classes since forever. Even Hinduism and Buddhism which I favor over the Abrahamic religions.

In the story, Jesus despised what the Jews had done, their history of treachery. If this thread involves a fictional character, did this fictional character hurl epithets at the Jews and threaten to slaughter them? Yes, he did. This "fictional character" was much like Trump in acting to drain the swamp.

Aside from the screamingly obvious that the words MAGA and Nazi don't belong on the same planet, much less the same sentence, would you not agree that, should all the Christians of America unite and vote as a bloc for only the most faithful of candidates, you would oppose such as a theocracy? Don't get me wrong, I would love to see it happen. I would love to see politicians held to the highest standards of behavior, but I'm not holding my breath waiting for it to happen.

Jesus had every reason to call His followers to resist the brutal Roman occupation when He walked the earth, in fact many expected Him to do just that, but what did he say? He said give to Ceasar what belongs to him. He said obey the law. He said if a soldier compelled you to carry his stuff for a mile, carry it for two. What I'm saying is, be careful when you urge the church to get involved with the state, because it's far too easy for the church to become corrupted by the state.

The long list of maledictions promised by Moses for setting aside THE WAY he taught to follow the Law sure sounds like hell to me. (Deut 27) Remember? Its a blessing or curse.

You don't have to believe in hell to be in it.
