That’s why one pretty good reason why counting deaths per population has advantages in accuracy and determining overall how you’re doing with the pandemic.

I think that the deaths from COVID without testing are a pretty small proportion and is unlikely to skew the stats much. As long as you accurately report what the stat is and what it's for, there is nothing dishonest about it.
