I am just amazed you can get trucks in there...I've lived here my entire life.
So Bodegas are like our 7/11s or Valero gas station convenience stores?

They are now. They used to be neighborhood grocery stores where you could walk from your house, buy bread, milk, and fresh vegatables and then visit the butcher next door for your meat.I am just amazed you can get trucks in there...

New York won't allow supermarkets? This is a question not a criticism. AGain, I am Texan hence my query. They are now. They used to be neighborhood grocery stores where you could walk from your house, buy bread, milk, and fresh vegatables and then visit the butcher next door for your meat.
Now, they are basically convenience stores with the high prices, and lack of selection of healthy foods, and emphasis on beer, and flavored wines. Nothing wrong with that, in the age of supermarkets, but New York won't allow supermarkets so their neighborhoods become "food deserts," and it's all Trump's fault!
I'm a Texan also, so I'm not claiming to personally know what is going on in New York. Here is my source:New York won't allow supermarkets? This is a question not a criticism. AGain, I am Texan hence my query.

Why are there no Walmart stores in New York City?
The reasons behind Walmart cannot be found in New York City...en.as.com
I have read other posters here claiming that there are Targets, which are supermarkets, but more upscale, and with more emphasis on general merchandize with the food as an afterthought.
So New York City has no food deserts?Plenty of Supermarkets. Stop&Shop, Metfood, and others.
I am not sure you are a good predictor of what will happen in NYC. You dont even know that the crime rate is low.And the new guy wants to end all that. Adams at least tries, the commie is gonna ***** slap the NYPD.

If the stores expect you to pay for the food, the left considers that a food desert.
I think that the argument is that such small stores stock junk food, alcohol, cigarettes, and lotto (if they have that in New York), rather than healthy food.I've been in the worst neighborhoods and there has always been a block with a bodega and some mini-market.

Made up story.Again, people have given up on reporting certain crimes, because it doesn't result in any prosecution.
I live in NYC, and people are worried we are going back to the bad old days with this moron.
Growing up, we lived 20 miles from the nearest grocery. That's any 7/11 or gas station store as well.
They stock what the people want to buy. It's not just poor neighborhoods that you have to travel a bit to get to a more sizable grocer, market, or even supermarket.
Made up story.
Left on its own, capitalism is exploitive.
Reality on the ground. They can present all the figures they can, but the trend is in the wrong direction.
Adams was a former police officer, so at least with him he is trying. It also depends on the DA for the county in question.
Bronx and Manhattan DA's are more concerned with the well being of criminals and political prosecutions than prosecuting actual crime.
Now add this **** in as the Mayor and even the current NYPD level of effort will plummet.
