Well, who couldn't foresee this?

Trillions wasted on "green" energy.

Wind power has slumped to a near standstill in Finland as extreme cold and icing force turbine shutdowns.

In Western Finland, temperatures of minus 25C rapidly ice turbines, triggering automatic shutdowns.

Grid operator Fingrid reports wind output collapsing to a fraction of installed capacity - precisely when power is needed most.

Built at enormous cost to stop "catastrophic global warming", Scandinavia's renewable system is now failing at scale due to record-breaking cold.

In central Norway, for example, Roros has already logged 15 days below minus 30C in 2026, a level of cold not seen so early in the year since the 1940s.

Stupid fools and their boutique pursuits.

These are the types of investments you make after proof of concept over a decade. Let other countries (other than China who are often full of shyte) advise you on successes and failures, best practices etc.

Who couldn't foresee MAGAts would complain about other countries' energy policies? Wind is only 25% of Finland's generation capacity. It's dropped its electricity imports to less than 5% of use, through the use of wind power, I'd suggest.

Finland stopped building a nuclear plant, then said, uh-oh, and finished it (no pun intended) it, and it has been up and running for since 2023, and now they are going to build more nuclear power plants.

That damned global warming!

This doesn't seem like a difficult problem to solve. Airplanes fly in this weather.

It's probably cost prohibitive to remedy.

We pilots understand airfoils icing up. This has been known for many decades. Now apply what happened to Finland to the USA and it can suffer that same fate. Consider as well solar panels that get covered with snow and ice. They may as well be sheets of wood for all the good they do.
