The sad thing is that blacks did not behave this way when I was growing up in the 60s and 70s. They all had married parents, and knew how to behave in public.

And that shows you can’t blame the uncivilized behavior on slavery from 200 years ago. If you could, the blacks from when I grew up would have been like this too.

When I was in high school there were maybe 3 or 4 black kids in school (all friends). The one girl ended up marrying a friend of mine (white guy, police captain). Good folks.

Why would you not want to associate with nice, responsible, hard-working people with demanding careers who go an extra-nice cruise?

You call others elitist and snobby, but YOU are the snob.

I like the idea of the more affordable cruises too though for those who can't easily afford Cunard and Viking et al. And they should be able to enjoy a 3 day or 7 day cruise without worrying about having to deal with idiots starting a brawl or otherwise misbehaving so the experience is ruined for everybody else. I hope Carnival has the book thrown at those idiots in that video.

When I was in high school there were maybe 3 or 4 black kids in school (all friends). The one girl ended up marrying a friend of mine (white guy, police captain). Good folks.

When our school integrated--voluntarily and not because anybody made them--the black kids assimilated very quickly and easily in the student body. They already shared our dress styles, hair styles,, manners, etiquette etc. that we all had been taught from the time we were preschoolers.

Our mothers, mostly all from southern cultures and having grown up in a segregated environment swallowed hard when we kids started bringing new black friends through the front door and announced they were staying for dinner. But they all came through like troopers and made our friends feel wanted, loved, and at home.

But it was easy because the black kids, and their parents--they almost all had a mom and dad in the home--did practice social graces and were pleasant to be around. The parents, equally pleasant people, were quickly assimilated into the PTA, fund raiser bakes sales, etc.

It would take awhile before natural desegregation happened in the neighborhoods--'colored town' persisted for quite some time and sometimes the churches just never did desegregate to any degree. But I never ever felt threatened or uncomfortable around any black person in our town or when I went to dinner in 'colored town'. Going back to that home town now, 'colored town' has been long gone because that assimilation did eventually happen naturally and without any effort by anybody.

Black youth should have a mom and dad in the home. They should be encouraged to think critically and logically, should receive basic training in manners and etiquette, and taught what is necessary for them to do in order to be successful in life. So should white, brown, Asian youth.

If we did that I think it highly unlikely we would see a brawl on a cruise ship started by anybody.

However, when looking at videos of comments on it there are African Americans who are spouting that many of these events are from inner city African Americans who play the poverty game and save money to take cruises from it. Incredible. Wha most likely happened is that there was a tray or most of a tray and some people in front of the line took most of the tenders with others waiting in line. Carnival on some ships at least started to serve limited food options late at night because people were complaining there was nothing from dinner to when they get to their cabin after partying all night.

My guess is the majority of black people are horrified by the conduct to people like that. Just as the majority of whites are horrified by the conduct of whites who behave like white trash, arguing with cops, causing problems in restaurants and bars and ruin the peace of others. A minority can ruin the experiences of the majority.

Have you ever gone to an all you can eat Chinese buffet at night when they serve crab legs? OMG they would never offer this in a black community. First of all the server never brings out enough for the line up of people looking to stuff their faces with crab legs. And you look ahead of you in line a person takes too many crab legs. What is too many? It's all you can eat. But that person could be considerate and just take 1 or 2. Instead they empty the sternal and we have to wait for them to go make more.

I'm surprised white people don't shoot each other over this. It certainly pisses us off. And you have to imagine some of us are carrying concealed weapons. This is America after all.

Sometimes it takes someone outrageous like Trump to bring about change. Maybe he's lousy at cleaning up crime but he's bringing attention to it and that's a good thing. What I don't like is he's winning yet another subject. Crime. Now what are Democrats going to be pro crime?

Trump's not going to fix or clean up inner city crimes. If anything his policies will make them worse.

Ever notice that Republicans are never wrong? For example, I can tell you t clean up the big cities in Texas and you will tell me those cities are run by Democrats. Well, there's a reason for that. The GOP is not an option. And it's not because they are tough on crime. It's because they are wrong. Their polices will make things worse and then they'll just fill up our prisons.

Republicans can't win big city elections. Even in red states, big cities know Republican policies just don't work. Regardless of your excuse or reasons, Republicans can't win free and fair elections in big cities. Can you explain this? So how do you know we have "failed"? Perhaps crime would be higher if Republicans ran those big cities. I think it would. No economic opportunities, more of a police state, etc....

I suggest Republicans start with big cities in red states. Even if they are Democratic cities. That's fine. States rights. Isn't it interesting Trump only wants to clean up cities that are in states he lost?

I’ve been cruising for 40 years. In the early days, it was a very affluent, well-mannered clientele, and quite formal.

More recently, as prices have come down relative to income, cruising has opened up to a wide swath of people - lots of middle and even lower-middle class. Still a very pleasant environment with people who know how to behave.

But lately, Carnival in particular made a conscious business decision to go real low-end, making cruises affordable to the food stamp crowd. But even they have been shocked to learn just how uncivilized these people have become.

Yep, when you were a little girl and went on cruises the only folks you saw were the uppity whites, average folks couldn't afford to go on cruises. The only minorities you saw was the help and they kept them down in the lower decks. You long for the Good Ole Days.
